Database reorganizationThe product families, application types, series and models are reorganized. The now each have a code and a name. The code is an unique, immutable, identifier for the record. The name is what is shown in the application.

This reorganization allowed us to show the ‘bare’ model code for the Daikin Altherma models that can be operated both as heat pump and as heating only model, instead of ‘EBHQ006BAV3 – LTHP-S’ or something similar.

In short: the reorganization allows changing the names of product families, application types, series and models without further consequences.

Apart from this technical reorganization, the existing Daikin Altherma series (‘Monobloc’ and ‘Split’) were replaced by the series from tbl_AlthOutdoorUnit (‘EBHQ-BV3’ and so on). The names of these series are decorated with either ‘Monobloc’ or ‘Split’. This change was required because the Information-button in the Seasonal Simulator needs to point to different web pages for each new series.

Design section(TopDesk 130927-018, 130927-035, 131003-002, 131007-053, 130927-052)A number of changes have been made in the design graph logic. The behavior of the design graph is now mostly in accordance with what was discussed on 10/10/2013.

- The range of the x-axis is that of the climate, extended with 5 degrees on both sides (the amount is a fixed setting in this version, but we could add this setting to the preferences screen).

- The heating slider cannot exceed the capacity line, unless there’s a back-up heater.- The cooling slider can never exceed the capacity line.

- The lower bound of the main system heating operation range cannot be changed by the user unless there’s a back-up heater

- The upper bound of the main system cooling operation range cannot be changed by the user.

- If constant heat load > 0 in a non-heat recovery system, the cooling load is set to 0 (and vice versa).

- The heat recovery zone is now displayed correctly for constant heat load and constant cool load.

Known graph related issues:

- Scenario: select a VRV Air cooled heat pump system with a back-up system. The user can now increase the value of the heating load slider above the maximal capacity of the main system. This is correct: the back-up system should fill in the missing capacity. However, if ‘optimize for seasonal efficiency’ is checked, the capacity graph gets adjusted in such a way that it stays above the load triangle:

- An Altherma system without back-up heater cannot be designed. The maximal capacity of the system at ambient min is zero. The allowed heating load cannot exceed the maximum capacity. Hence, the heating load cannot be set to a value greater than zero:

DatabaseThe model table in daikin.db is extended with a column indicating if the model is equipped with VRT.

Design pageCheckbox ‘optimize for seasonal efficiency’ is now only shown if the selected model is equipped with VRT.

The horizontal axis is fixed (-25 min, +45 max).

The scale of the load axis is adapted according to the properties of the selected model.

The heating and cooling load sliders are initialized at 50% of the height of the graph.

Operational range for heating is initialized at -25 .. 16 ‘C; for cooling at 20 .. 45 ‘C.

BEFORE INSTALLATIONThere have been some changes in the database file. Remove the data files in [My documents]\Daikin\Seasonal Simulator before you start the application. This will force a download of the new version of the database.

Test setting for power input at zero capacityThe power input at zero capacity can be changed through the advanced settings on the systempage.

VRT-logoThe application now contains a clickable VRT-logo (for now on two different pages). Clicking it will open a country-dependent web page.

Climate dataThe application now contains climate data for 10 cities in 9 different countries.

Series and modelsOnly models from two different series (RXYQ~T and RYYQ~T) are shown.

VRTThe VRT-checkboxes on the system page and the design page are bound to the same input parameters. The checkbox on the system page will be removed in the next version, the label text on the design page will be changed to ‘Optimize for seasonal efficiency’.

Background ImageThe background image is changed into one supplied by Daikin.

Known issues Measurements for a number of models (like RXYCQ10A7Y1B) seems to be missing. Selecting such a model will give empty results.

Calculation of the results when ‘Optimize for seasonal efficiency’ takes very long, due to a very large amount of lookups of the same value in the database. These values will be cached in the next version.

Start-up sequence.The start-up sequence of the application is improved. Until this version, the disclaimer window would remain in existence (behind the main window) until the settings window was closed. Now it is removed from the screen right after the user clicks Agree or Don’t Agree.

Lay-out.The application now fits on a 1366 x 768 screen. The width of the settings window is increased so the rightmost part of the low/high electricity periods now fits.

Results page.The result page now shows some text with the graphs.

Building types.A set of building types is added to the application.

Proxy server caching.The web server now tells clients to disable content caching. Note however that content already cached by a proxy server will remain cached!

Location of the database files.Database files are for the time being downloaded to <My Documents>\Daikin\Seasonal Simulator. Rationale: the location used by version 1.0.0.15 is a bit hard to find, which could impede testing.

Database files are downloaded on demand by the application and placed in the data directory for click once applications (somewhere below AppData\Local\Apps\2.0\Data\....).The biggest database (Daikin.db, 17 MB) is downloaded after the user accepts the disclaimer.

Climate data are organized in one database per location, and are fetched when the user selects a location.

For the time being all cities use the climate data of Strassbourg, France.

The settings window shows a check box (on the about-tab) that allows you to switch web bulb temperature conversion on or off.

Product families, application types, series and models are fetched from Daikin.db. The previous version showed some sample data. Remark: please check if the right series names were reverse engineered from the model names.
