• Motorists are advised that the New York State Department of Transportation has shifted the eastbound and westbound Brooklyn-

Queens Expressway (BQE) traffic onto the New Kosciuszko Bridge.

• Traffic entering the westbound BQE via ramps from the LIE and 43rd Street is also shifted onto the New Kosciuszko Bridge.

• Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005,

convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license. It is

imperative that motorists drive carefully through construction work zones, for their own safety and the safety of workers.

Staten Island Korean War Veterans Memorial Parkway

Traffic Pattern:

• The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is advising motorists of a permanent change in traffic pattern at the

Korean War Veterans Parkway (KWVP)/West Shore Expressway (WSE) Interchange approaching the Outerbridge Crossing on

Staten Island.

• To increase mobility and improve safety, a concrete barrier has been installed to channel westbound traffic heading to the

Outerbridge Crossing to appropriate lanes, separating KWVP traffic from merging WSE traffic. Traffic on the KWVP wanting to

access Arthur Kill Road will continue to use the Maguire Avenue/Bloomingdale Road /Arthur Kill Road exit, eliminating vehicles

crossing two lanes of traffic to access Exit 1 (Arthur Kill Road).

• This work is part of a $5.4 million safety and mobility improvement project at the Interchange, which also included construction of

a new 3,000-foot sidewalk along the Korean War Veterans Parkway service road (Drumgoole West) between Bloomingdale Road

and Lenevar Avenue, which opened in October. The new sidewalk complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act and

improves safety and access to Bloomingdale Park and the surrounding community. The sidewalk also provides direct access to

express bus stops at Bloomingdale Road.

East 11th Street between 3rd Avenue and 4th Avenue: This street will be closed Saturday from 8am to 6pm and Sunday from 9am to

6pm through 2/10/19 to facilitate crane operation.

West 11th Street between 6th Avenue and 7th Avenue: This street will be closed Saturday from 8am to 6pm and Sunday from 9am to

6pm through 2/24/19 for major gas installation.

East 19th Street between Broadway and Park Avenue South: This street will be fully closed 8pm Saturday to 8am Sunday through

facilitate knuckle boom operation.

NYCDOT Weekly Construction WEEKLY TRAFFIC ADVISORY

Saturday February 2, 2018 to Friday February 8, 2019

The City of New York’s Department of Transportation issued a traffic alert for this week providing the locations of road construction and

events where lane and street closings will affect the flow of traffic. Lane closings may also occur due to circumstances beyond our control.

Major road, lane and street closings for the coming week are as follows:

EAST RIVER BRIDGE CROSSINGS

Ed Koch/Queensboro Bridge (Deck Replacement): Single-lane will be closed on Lower Roadway in either direction. Westbound

(Manhattan-bound) closure will be Monday to Thursday from 10pm to 5am and Saturday from 12:01am to 7am. Eastbound (Queens-

bound) closure will be Monday to Thursday from 11pm to 5:30am and Saturday from 1am to 7am. These lane closures are necessary to

facilitate long term NYCDOT Bridges deck replacement, and will be coordinated with the maintenance lane closures.

Ed Koch/Queensboro Bridge (Maintenance): One lane at a time will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday from 10pm to 5am for North

Upper and Inner roadways and from 11pm to 5:30am for South Upper and Inner roadways to facilitate maintenance operation. These

closures will be coordinated with the on-going deck preplacement closures.

Brooklyn Bridge: One lane at a time will be closed on Tuesday from 11pm to 5am for westbound direction and from 12:01am to 6am for

eastbound direction to facilitate maintenance operation.

Manhattan Bridge: Lower Roadway (Manhattan-bound) left lane will be closed 24/7 to facilitate structural and component rehabilitation

under contract BRC-156F Contract #15.

Williamsburg Bridge: One lane Brooklyn-bound outer roadway will be closed on Sunday from 7am to 12pm and one lane at a time in

either direction of outer roadway will be closed Monday to Friday from 10am to 3pm to facilitate in-depth inspection of the bridge for

rehabilitation work. Also, one lane at a time will be closed in either direction on Monday and Friday from 10pm to 5am next morning to

facilitate maintenance operation.

MANHATTAN

West 33rd Street between 10th Avenue and 11th Avenue: This street is fully closed closed to facilitate long term roadway reconstruction

work.

Battery Park Underpass: The north tube will be closed Saturday from 1am to 5am to facilitate electrical and mechanical systems

restoration by the NYCDOT Division of Bridges.

FDR Drive Southbound (approximately between 28 and 16 Street): One lane will be closed from Friday 11:30pm to Saturday 7am and

from Saturday 11:30pm to Sunday 8am. Two lanes will be closed Saturday from 1am to 7am and Sunday from 1am to 8am. Entrance ramp

from Avenue C to southbound FDR Drive will be closed from Friday 11:30pm to Saturday 7am and from Saturday 11:30pm to Sunday

8am. These closures are necessary to facilitate a sinkhole repair on the FDR Drive southbound near Con Edison East River Generating

Station.

Route 9A/West Street (northbound/southbound) between Battery Place and Vesey Street: One northbound lane will be closed from

10pm to 5am Monday to Friday, 8:30pm Friday to 8am Saturday and 8:30pm Saturday to 10:30am Sunday. Two northbound lanes will be

closed from 1am to 5am Monday to Friday, 2am to 7am Saturday and 12:01am to 8am Sunday. One southbound lane will be closed from

11pm to 5am nightly. Two southbound lanes will be closed from 1am to 5am Monday to Friday, 3am to 8am Saturday and 3am to 9am

Sunday. These lane closures are necessary through September 2018 to facilitate NYSDOT roadway rehabilitation work.

Route 9A/West Street (northbound/southbound) between Vesey Street and Canal Street: One northbound lane will be closed from

Henry Hudson Parkway (Northbound) Viaduct between West 72 Street and West 82 Street: One lane on the northbound Henry

Hudson Parkway will be closed from 10pm to 2pm through 2/7/2019 for NYC Department of Transportation Division of Bridges to conduct

rehabilitation of the viaduct.

Macomb’s Dam Viaduct between Harlem River Drive and Edgecombe Avenue: The viaduct will be fully closed from Thursday 11pm

to Friday 5am, from Friday 11:59pm to Saturday 7am, and from Monday 11pm to Tuesday 5am through 2019 to facilitate long term

NYCDOT Bridges structural steel repairs of the West 155th Street viaduct of the Macomb’s Dam Bridge.

West 155 Street between Bradhurst Avenue and Harlem River Drive Service Road: These streets will be fully closed from Friday

10pm to Saturday 7am and from Monday 9pm to Tuesday 7am through 2019 to facilitate long term NYCDOT Bridges structural steel

repairs of the West 155th Street viaduct of the Macomb’s Dam Bridge.

BROOKLYN

Gowanus Expressway/Belt Parkway Interchange between 86th Street and 45th Street: One of three lanes in each direction may be

closed Monday to Friday from 10am to 3pm to facilitate NYSDOT long term roadway rehabilitation work.

Third Avenue between 54th Street and 5th Avenue/65th Street: One lane westbound is closed around-the clock on the inner roadway,

and an additional lane may be closed from 8pm to 2pm Monday to Friday to facilitate NYSDOT long term work.

MANHATTAN/BRONX

Washington Bridge over Harlem River (181 Street): Two lanes will be closed in either direction from Monday to Friday between the

hours of 12:01am and 5am, through 2/4/2019, for NYCDOT Division of Bridges to conduct maintenance.

BRONX

Hutchinson River Parkway under Westchester Avenue Bridge: Two of three lanes in each direction will be closed from 12:01am to

5am Monday to Friday to facilitate long term NYCDOT Bridges Westchester Avenue Bridge rehabilitation. The double-lane closures will

be in effect from the East Tremont Avenue exit to the Pelham Parkway entrance ramp to the southbound Hutchinson River Parkway. One

lane of traffic in each direction will remain open at all times.


MTA BRONX WHITESTONE BRIDGE (MTA)

Daytime:

• Monday to Friday: Intermittent single lane closures to be implemented in northbound and southbound directions

from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Nighttime:

• No anticipated nighttime closures.
