LOCATION

Just 40 km/1-hour drive from Stone Town on the Northeast Coast, The Shooting Star Lodge is nestled on a headland amidst lush tropical gardens with breathtaking panoramic views across the Indian Ocean. The hotel is beautifully isolated at the very northern end of Kiwengwa beach well away from other resorts. This is a perfect destination for guests looking for peace, tranquility and relaxation.

ACCOMMODATION

Our choice of accommodation includes comfortable villas with private pools,

cottages with verandas overlooking the ocean, and comfortable lodge rooms with

terraces opening onto the garden.

Monsoon Villas

Our two villas, Kusi and Kaskazi are set on the crest of the hill apart from the main

hotel guest rooms. Each villa is laid out on 3 floors with 2 bedrooms (each with its

own bathroom), a roof terrace and a private swimming pool, set amidst a tropical

garden. They are furnished with stunning traditional Zanzibar furniture and batik

linen.


From the roof of the villa, panoramic 360 degree views sweeping across the coral

reef and the island interior can be enjoyed from the many sitting areas. There is

also an inbuilt tub to enjoy a romantic bath and a fully netted bed so that the

fabulous star filled night sky can be enjoyed. Both villas have ceiling fans as well

as being fully air conditioned. Tea/Coffee facilities as well as a mini-fridge are

available in each villa. Hair-dryer is also at guest’s disposal.

Sea View Cottages

Our eleven sea view cottages are spacious en-suite rooms, built in keeping with

traditional Zanzibari styles of architecture with airy, high-beamed ceilings, large

windows, ceiling fan and air conditioning. All have traditionally carved wooden

Zanzibari beds, with beautifully mosquito net canopies and matching batik bed

covers, along with coconut wood wall mirrors and other hand-made teak wood

furniture. Every cottage has its own private veranda.


Four of our sea view cottages are set out on two levels and are ideal for families.

The ground floor has a large, air-conditioned double bedroom with en suite shower

room. A small staircase leads up to a twin children's room in the roof space,

sharing bathroom and toilet facilities with the room downstairs.

Two sea view cottages are interconnected and can easily be allocated to families.

Garden Lodge Rooms

Our three garden lodge rooms are smaller and more simply furnished, with

Zanzibari beds. They have air conditioning and ceiling fans and are also en-suite.


All rooms have mosquito nets, wall lights, bedside lamps, electric ceiling fans and air conditioning. Our bathrooms are equipped with overhead showers with hot and cold running water. Guests can store their personal belongings in a traditional Zanzibari chest (padlock provided) or can handle their valuables at the Reception (safe deposit in the Manager’s Office). The pathways between cottages and down the steps to the beach are all sand (no shoes required!) and also illuminated at night for guests' safety and comfort. We provide on request hair dryer as well as plug adaptor.

RESTAURANT | BAR | INFINITY POOL

Our restaurant has a long-standing reputation for African fine food, a cozy,

intimate atmosphere and warm friendly service. Our Chef specializes in local

seafood, grills and traditional Zanzibari cuisine. We cater for all kind of special

food requirements.

Monsoon Bar and Restaurant

This is the place where guests take all their meals. As a Boutique Hotel, we are proud to offer our guests a unique and personal service. Our aim is to introduce to our guests all the flavors of Africa by using local and home-made products. For this reason, there is no buffet at Shooting Star. We offer “à la carte” breakfast, lunch and dinner.


Adjoining to the bar and restaurant, and overlooking the pool area, is a

comfortable traditional sitting area (baraza). Every day, guests are welcome for a

pre-dinner cocktail.

Star Fish Beach Bar

It is the perfect place to sip a fresh and healthy juice during the day.

Complimentary Tea/Coffee is served during the afternoon.

The Monsoon Beach Bar is also the venue for our famous Seafood BBQ.


Infinity Pool

Located on the cliff some ten meters above the beach, our infinity pool has

spectacular views over the beach and the Indian Ocean beyond. It is the perfect

place to chill out on a traditional lounger (kamba) under a coconut tree and

experience the Zanzibari “pole pole” style during your holiday!

And if you are lucky enough, you will see plenty of African shooting stars when

comes the night … Make a wish!

SHOOTING STAR SPA

The Shooting Star Spa is the ideal place for pampering oneself and regenerate mind, body and soul! Holiday is the perfect time to take care of oneself. All our spa treatments will give ultimate relaxation and physical well-being! Set on the cliff, aired by the cool ocean breeze, our Spa Therapist offers massages, body scrubs, facial, manicure and pedicure as well as depilation.
