• The Rock Cycle States that all rocks are able to turn into each other.• All rocks are also able to turn into magma• Each rock can be transformed into another rock in different ways for

instance with heat and pressure Sedimentary Rock will turn into Metamorphic Rock.

Weathering, Erosion, and Deposition

• When an inanimate object has been exposed to forces such as weather it is called weathering.

Superposition• Superposition is a principle that states that younger rocks lie

above older rocks if the layers have not been disturbed.

How Rock Layers Become Disturbed.• Faults: a break in the earths layer• Folding: rock layer bend• Tilting: forces inside the Earth slant the rock• Intrusions: molten rock squeezes into gaps of existing rock and cools

Unconformity

• An unconformity is a break in geologic record created when rock layers are eroded or when sediment is not deposited for a long time.

Order of Events

• If you put away your clothes into a dirty hamper you are creating layers. If you find a penny at the bottom from 1965 then you know that the clothes that are above the penny are younger than 1965.
