Outcomes: At the end of this lesson, students will; 1- state the meaning of relative clauses in the sentences. 2- state the rules for combining two sentences which have the same subject in common. Aim 2: The understanding of relative clauses with subject position. Outcomes: At the end of this lesson, students will; 1- make sentences by combining two sentences which have the same subject. 2- describe the people in the picture using relative clauses. Anticipated Problems: Form: 1- Students may have a problem about the use of “who” for people and “which” for things. 2-Students may confuse which part is main information and which part is extra information.

- Greet students. Say Hello friends how are you today?

-Ask Do you want to play an enjoyable game before the lesson?

-Give the instructions. There are two boxes here. In each box, there are five fruit names in papers. I will gve these papers to you. When I say one of these fruits, you will run to the board and write a sentence using that fruit. The group who writes more sentences will be the winner.

LEAD-IN:

-Say: Today, I have a picture for you. Shall we look at it? Lets look at it altogether.

-Show your picture and do some picture talk

Friends, what do you see in the picture?

-Elicit a girl

-Say: Yes, friends. There is a girl in the picture. She is my cousin. Friends, what does she wear?

-Elicit answers

-Write the sentences on the board

-Say: How many sentences do you see here? Friends, we can combine these sentences in English. How can we combine?

-Say: Without using them, how can we combine? We can combine them in Turkish. Lets try it in Turkish.

-Say: Do you know how to combine sentences in English?

-Say: Do you want to learn? Lets learn altogether.

INTRODUCE THE TOPIC:

-Say. Today, we are going to have a grammar lesson with you and learn how to combine two sentences and give extra information in English.

-Write the topic on the board Combining sentences

-Make them repeat the topic

PRESENTATION:

-Say: Friends, do you remember my cousin? Lets remeber her.

-Read the sentences in lead-in part and say Now, Im going to combine the sentences. Listen to me carefully.

-Say: The girl who wears red dress is my cousin.

-Repeat the sentences a few times so that everyone can hear

-Make sts repeat the sentences chorally and individually

-Put the picture on the board

-Show your second picture and do some picture talk

-Ask: What is this? What is it used for?

-Elicit the answers from the sts and put the sentences on the board.

-Say: Now, lets combine them.

-Say: The car which is used for transportation is a vehicle.

-Repeat the sentences a few times and make your sts repeat the sentences chorally and individually.

-Attach the second pic. on the board and write the sentences next to the pics.

GUIDED DISCOVERY:

-Say: Lets look at our sentences.

-Ask questions about meaning

1- Are there any changes in meaning?

2- We use who for what?

3- We use which for what?

-Ask questions about the form

1- What does who replace?

2- What does which replace?

3- Which part gives us extra information?
