DESCRIPTION

 Avoiding Conflict Altogether Don’t avoid the situation. If you do you may end up hurting the person you are speaking to.  Being Defensive Try to see it from the other persons point of view. This helps because then the person you are speaking to feels understood and less mad.  Overgeneralizing Try not to blow things out of proportion. This makes things seem like they are worse than what they really are, which causes stress.

Respect

How to get the person's respect• Talk and behave in ways that are consistent with what you believe.• In other words be yourself but respectful.

Fighting fire with fire just makes a bigger fire.

• Try not to blame, nag, or complain.

• When you do this the other person will have no respect for what you say.

Here are a few examples of seemingly loving, but respect-losing behaviors• Saying that honesty is important to you, but then hiding information that the person

may not like.• Not being assertive in expressing your needs and desires.

Problem solve

Approach the issue with clarity• Approach any issue in a clear and logical manner.• If you just walk up yelling it will make the problem bigger.

Understand the issue• Make sure you understand what is being discussed.• You can’t solve the issue if you don’t know what the issue is.

Plan a strategy• After you understand you problem you need to know what to do in this

situation.• This is best to do so you come out with a good result.
