Although many matriculants in Nigel and

Heidelberg are looking forward to going to

universities or colleges for further educa-

tion, there is a large number who are already

looking at the job market.

Although they still have to wait for the re-

sults of the exams the search is already on.

Many have realised that it is not easy to find

a job without qualifications other than matric

Matrics search for jobsand job consultants advise that they should

try and study further.

Even if they have had computer classes at

school, more advanced studies will be an as-

set when looking for a job, if they have an

appropriate diploma.

But even those who will be eligible for uni-

versity are facing problems.

Many parents say they just can’t afford the

fees and the lucky ones are those who have

already been successful in obtaining bursa-

ries.

The future is not all bleak, as technical col-

leges offer a wide range of subjects which

will be assets when looking for jobs.

Another option is to find a part-time job and

use the rest of the time to study.

Some matrics interviewed said they wanted

to travel and had applied for “au pair” posi-

tions overseas.

They said that when their contract was fin-

ished they would probably have a better

chance of employment at home.

The message from employment consultants

is definitely “Study further and don’t give up

hope”.

As I was pedalling to nowhere on the Orbitrac

this morning I thought about the different

aspects of fitness and the results of being fit

and indeed of not being fit. I believe that there

are a number of fitness areas. There is being

physically, emotional, work and spiritually

fit.

Any doctor, dietician, fitness instructor and

our medical aids emphasize how important it

is to get fit and stay fit. While many people

(including myself) do not “enjoy” training (I

love playing a sport but training is not my

strong point) everybody agrees how impor-

tant it is to be physically fit and that when

you are fit you feel better, have more energy,

are not overweight and have a chance to live

longer.

In other words when you are fit you are going

to enjoy life more and feel better for it. Yet

most people (I have only just started to train

again) ignore all these facts and are very re-

luctant to give up 45 minutes sleep for a train-

ing session or even worse to give up our TV

program for a fitness session. But the fact is –

Fitnessto live a better and more decent life we need to

get fit.

On the emotional side we find that many peo-

ple “explode” and lose their temper (often for

the smallest reason) and afterwards are very

sorry for what they have done. It is all very

well to be sorry but the explosion has occurred

and you cannot take back the bad hurtful

words uttered.

Again I feel that we need to be emotionally fit

to be able to handle life better. Some ways to

handle these emotions is not to let small prob-

lems heap up inside – rather take time to speak

out your problems with a person (note that I

said speak and not argue or shout).

There are also two areas that this becomes

impossible to do. Some things are just very

difficult to speak about (eg a sudden death in

the family or a hi-jacking etc). the other diffi-

cult subject is when someone has come to

you in confidence and this subject worries

you – what do you do and how do you regain

emotional fitness.

If you have experienced trauma in any way

please be brave enough to see someone who

can help you through the trauma. Trauma does

not “go away” with time – we burry it and it

can raise its head up at any time with no no-

tice at all. Deal with it or you will struggle at

some point or another. I believe that we all

need to have one or two TRUE friends who

we can trust and who we can use just to lis-

ten to us while we pour out our built up frus-

trations.

No names need to be mentioned but in the

way our emotions become fit and we can han-

dle the ups and downs in life much better.

The ideal is to have someone outside of your

town who has nothing to do where you stay

and so confidentiality is never an issue.

Please realize when looking for this person

do not assume that your best friend is the

right person – they may be your best friend

but could also have a big mouth. We need to

speak our frustrations out to remain emotion-

ally fit but we need to do this in the right

place or people will get hurt.

A counsellor always needs someone to speak

to so that they may be “de-briefed” as they

will never be able to handle the load of every-

one else’s problems.

We also need to be “work fit”. In other words

we need to be on top of our job and keep up

with the latest ideas and technology to stay

abreast of developments or we will lose our

job.

To get this right we spend hours going on

courses and reading books. We spend hours

speaking to someone with more knowledge

than we have so that we gain more work fit-

ness.

But now we come to spiritual fitness. We tend

to do most of the above “exercises” but when

it comes to spiritual fitness we assume that

everything is just going “to happen” with-

out any effort. We feel that we will be spiritu-

ally fit by just going to church every now

and again.

Will the truth is that there is no difference to

being spiritual fit than to any other fitness I

have spoken about. We need to take time to

read the Bible and become “fit” in our Bibli-

cal knowledge.

We need to speak a lot to our mentor(s) so

that we can gain knowledge and understand-

ing in our belief. We need to “listen” to a lot

of people speaking about God to understand

God. Just as everyone wants to physically fit

so too do most people want to be spiritually

fit!

Both require a lot of effort and commitment.

Get physically fit and feel well. Get spiritually

fit and know God well and be blessed out of

your socks as you do the work that God has

called you to do and be at peace in your life.

The bonus is that as a Christian you have

eternal life – a free gift from God because of

what Jesus did for all of us.

Die voorval het waarskynlik tussen 09:45 en 10:30 gebeur toe die

Bredenhanns ‘n vriend besoek het. Terwyl hulle daar was, het ‘n

persoon wat by die GPF wou aansluit, gebel en gesê hy wag by die

Bredenhanns se huis in Zuidstraat en dat die staaldeur oop staan.

Malan was binne vyf minute tuis en het toe gevind dat die voordeur

oopgeskop maar weer toegetrek was. Die honde was nog doodgerus

in die huis. Dit wil dus voorkom of die inbreker of inberekers, die

honde en die huis geken het. Hulle het ook nie al die juwele gesteel

nie, waarskynlik omdat hulle haastig of dalk gesteur was.

Members of the Nigel, Dunnottar and Sharon Park communities arefed up with never knowing when the people call to read their electric-ity meters.They say if the property has no access, which is common, then an“interim” reading is given. But if they knew when the readers came,they would give access on that day. Rumours are flying that if accessis not obtained for a few months then the electricity will be cut. “Weare not prepared to leave gates open every day in the hope the read-ers will call,” is the general comment. “Surely they can put slips in thepost boxes informing us of reading dates. “This will solve the prob-lem.” The Rekord has contacted Ekurhuleni with complaint and willpublish the comment.

Don’t take a chance on driving when you’ve

had alcohol!

This is the message from the SAPS combined

with other State and Provincial authorities.

No-one is trying to stop you from having a

good time but be responsible about doing it

or pay the price!

Your blood may not have an alcohol content

limit of more than 0,05%. This means that even

after what you may think is a “small drink”

you could be over the limit.

If you have more than a single tot of brandy

or other spirit, you could be over the limit. If

you have more than 350ml of beer you may

be already over the limit.

Remember that these levels of alcohol will

remain in your system for up to eight hours

after consumption. Don’t take chances. Wait

until you have sobered up and arrange for

alternative transport.

What will happen if you are caught over the

limit? Members of the SAPS and various Met-

ropolitan Police Departments are more fre-

quently conducting road blocks.

than the legal limit of alcohol while driving,

aanklagte van verkragting en twee van onsedelike aanranding, het

Woensdag kort ná die weiering van sy borgaansoek in Balfour, in

mekaar gesak en moes per ambulans na ‘n hospitaal in Heidelberg

geneem word waar intensiewe ondersoeke en buitengewone hoë

bloeddruk daarop dui dat hy te enige tyd ‘n hartaanval kan kry.

Een van die redes wat deur landdros Tandi Nhantsi in ag geneem is

by die weiering van borgtog, is dat daar sterk dreigemente van die

publiek se kant was om die man uit die weg te ruim indien hy op

borgtog uitgelaat sou word. Die beweerde oortredings het tussen

2002 en 2010 plaasgevind.

Rekord het besluit om nie die identiteit van die beskuldigde op hierdie

tydstip bekend te maak nie. Die hele ondersoek is nog nie afgehandel

nie en daar bestaan ook ‘n moontlikheid dat nog klagte tot die

klagstaat bygevoeg sal word. Blootlegging voor die hof dui daarop

dat daar geen geslagtelike gemeenskap was nie en dat die beskuldigde

geen vorige seksuele veroordelings het nie.

Prokureur Chris Liebenberg van Nigel wat die beskuldigde in die

borgaansoek bygestaan het, het in sy pleitrede aangebied dat die

beskuldigde uit die regsgebied van Balfour verwyder sou word tot

die volgende uitsteldatum. Die landdros het dit egter in die

beskuldigde se belang geag om borgtog te weier.

Liebenberg het eers Vrydag tot die saak toegetree nadat die beskuldig-

de se vorige regsverteenwoordigers hulle aan die saak onttrek het.

Hy is slegs vir die borgtogaansoek aangestel en het nog geen

instruksies gekry om die beskuldigde in die strafsaak te verdedig nie.

Liebenberg was voorheen ‘n landdros in Nigel.

Die beskuldigde se vrou bedryf reeds die afgelope sowat twintig jaar

‘n kleuterskool in die dorp. Liebenberg het o.a. in sy borgaansoek

daarop gewys dat die beskuldigde in swak gesondheid verkeer en

nie die tyd in die tronk sou kon weerstaan nie.

Pas nadat die hofsaak verdaag het, het die beskuldigde inmekaar

gesak. Liebenberg sê hy gaan adv. Freddie van der Merwe aanstel

om appèl teen die weiering van die borgaansoek aan te teken.

Die aanklaer was me. Masamisa Nomthunzi en die ondersoekbeampte

is A.O. Dlamini. Daar kan na verneem word tot soveel as dertien

aanklagte wees waarop die man sal moet antwoord.

‘n Spinternuwe vleuel vir mense met fisiese

en verstandelike uitdagings, is op Saterdag

26 November by Sunfield Tuiste Fortuna

buitekant Balfour in gebruik geneem. Die

tuiste kan nou 150 mense huisves.

Toe die rooi lint omstreeks 12-uur geknip is,

was dit nie alleen die bereiking van ‘n ideaal

wat oor baie jare strek nie, maar ook die

vestiging van ‘n monument vir die huidige

bestuur wat die afgelope 2-3 jaar teen alle

teenslae in, alles in die stryd gewerp het om

fondse in te samel om die gebou te voltooi.

Die dop en dak van die gebou wat 46 mense

huisves, is reeds in 2004 opgerig, maar

terugslae wat o.a. die wanbesteding van

fondse insluit, het bykans die projek gekelder.

Daar was selfs in 2009 sprake dat die

besigheid deur die Departement van Sosiale

Ontwikkeling onder geregtelike administrasie

geplaas sou word.

Maar dis net daar waar die direksie vasgebyt

het en geweier het om nederlaag te aanvaar.

Ronel Müller van Midrand wat self ‘n seun

in die inrigting het, het verlede jaar ‘n

deeglike voorbereide voorlegging aan die

Nasionale Lotto Komitee voorgelê, en hulle

het met ‘n verrassende skenking van R7,5

milj na vore gekom waarmee die gebou voltooi

kon word. Die nuwe vleuel verbeeld diepe

trots en vertroue in die toekoms van die

inwoners wat met bomenslike uitdagings te

Sunfield, plek van hoop brei uitdoen het. Baie van hulle sal daar bly tot die

einde van hulle lewens en was dit nie vir die

liefde en toewyding van die komitee (en

vorige komitees) nie, sou dit ‘n uiters hartseer

prentjie vir hulle gewees het.

Spik nuwe kamers, mooi geverf en toegerus

met pragtige duvets en gordyne om die

inwoners waarlik tuis te laat voel,

badkamergeriewe wat in die beste koshuise

sou pas, ‘n ontspanningsarea en ‘n oop,

verwelkomende ingangsportaal , getuig van

smaak en deernis. Die gange is breed en

rolstoel-vriendelik. Stewige handrelings

dwarsdeur die gebou verseker gemaklike

beweging.

Die oorspronklike gebou is in die 1950’s

ontwerp. Ná twee mislukkings, is die gebou

in die 1990’s deur Sunfield oorgeneem. Na nóg

terugslae wat die sterkste mens se moed sou

knak, is die nuwe vleuel nou ‘n werklikheid

en die toekoms van Sunfield verseker. Ronel

het ideale vir mooi wandellane en daar is

planne om ‘n kamer nou op ‘n lewenslange

basis tot beskikking van inwoners te stel.

Die Raad van Direkteure wat die droom

deurgevoer het is Johann Marx, voorsitter,

Rolf Ramakers, finansiële direkteur, Poppie

Mahlangu, lid, Louw Maritz, lid, Ronel Müller,

lid en Brenda Gouws, bestuurder. “Ons

hartlike dank aan die gemeenskap wat ons so

getrou ondersteun,” het Müller gesê.

Die oorwinningspan nadat die lint geknip is om die nuwe vleuel oop te

God Likes You!

Running with Fire

Jesus looked closely at the man. He liked

him and said, “There’s one thing you still

need to do. Go sell everything you own. Give

the money to the poor, and you will have riches

in heaven. Then come with me (Mark 10:21

CEV).

Can you think of yourself as one whom God

likes? From the way some people live their

lives you can tell they’re not sure whether or

not God likes them. God loves you, and He

also likes you. “Like” in this context, means

to be favourably disposed to someone you

find agreeable and enjoyable. God actually

does like you. He likes you so much that He

always boasts of you and rejoices over you

with singing: “The LORD thy God in the midst

of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice

over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he

will joy over thee with singing” (Zephaniah

3:17). Think about that!

To know He likes you is one thing; to do some-

thing about it is another thing entirely. Imag-

ine for a second that you knew the president

of your country liked you personally, what

would that make out of you? One thing’s for

sure; your attitude will change. You’ll start

seeing new possibilities; because you can get

favours from the “state house”; why? You’re

the President’s man. You’ll tell your friends

about your special relationship with the Presi-

dent and even introduce them to him. Now,

think about the fact that the Monarch of the

universe likes you more than any human per-

son can! Paul, writing to Timothy, said:

“Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the

grace that is in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 2:1).

That’s what you ought to do; take advan-

tage of the fact that God likes you and lov-

ingly cares for you. He’s favourably disposed

towards you, therefore, there’s nothing you’ll

ask of Him that He wouldn’t grant you. No

wonder He said, “ask and receive that your

joy may be full” (John 16:24).

Take advantage of the special love-relation-

ship that exists between you and your heav-

enly Father today and receive that job you’ve

long desired. Take advantage of His gracious

and loving disposition towards you and re-

buke that cancer from your body. See, be-

cause God likes you specially, He gave you

the Name of Jesus to use to make your life

enjoyable: “And in that day ye shall ask me

nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, What-

soever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he

will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked noth-

ing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive,

that your joy may be full” (John 16:23-24).

Dear Father, what an honour and privilege it

is to know that you not only love me, but

you also like me. This knowledge gives me

the boldness and confidence to be the suc-

cess you created me to be. I take advantage

of your great grace and to lead others into

this knowledge, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Soos enige ander oggend het ek op 7 Novem-

ber my dogter by die skool afgelaai, maar

ons was so 5 minute vroeër as gewoonlik.

Vandag is daar soveel meer motors want die

mense het hulle stalletjies kom bespreek vir

die nagmark. Soos gewoonlik laai ek my

dogter so na as moontlik aan die hek af en

wag tot sy ingaan, want na al die stories van

die De Waal meisie en als wat daarna met haar

gebeur het, kan jy nooit te versigtig wees nie.

My kinders se veiligheid kom eerste.

Ek stop toe half op ‘n geel lyn om so na as

moontlik aan die hek te kom. Ek sit in my

luierende motor want sy kry net haar tas en

dan ry ek vir werk nadat sy by die hek in is.

Die volgende oomblik hoor ek ‘n alarm en

sien ek ‘n vinger wat na my wys. Ek dink toe:

Waar is verkeers-man se respek?

nee die ou wys seker na sy kind. Die volgende

oomblik trek hy langs my in met sy Hoërskool

dogter langs hom, en op ‘n arogante manier,

sonder enige “more” of “verskoon my”, be-

gin die verkeersman op my skreeu oor waar ek

parkeer. Ek weet ek het niemand in gevaar

gestel nie en daai tyd van die oggend is die

patrolie ook nog nie aan diens nie.

Die man skreeu op my en ek dink eers die ou

maak seker ‘n grap. Ek vra toe vir hom “ Nou

waar moet ek parkeer?”

Binne die parkeerstrepe skreeu hy op my. Ek

sê toe vir hom hy praat nie met ‘n kind nie en

hy ry toe weg. Nou vertel my wie oortree eintlik

die wet? Hy wat met sy gemerkte patrolie-

motor rondry met twee kinders van wie hy

een by Laer Volkskool aflaai en die ander een

by die Hoër Volkskool, of ek wat my dogter so

na as moontlik aan die hek wil aflaai vir

veiligheid?

Ek het 10 jaar by Johannesburg se verkeer

gewerk en ek weet sy optrede is teen die wet,

want wat gebeur as hy nou ‘n nood oproep

kry? Dan moet hy ander mense se lewens in

gevaar stel aangesien hy eers sy kindertjies

by die skool moet aflaai.

jarige meisie van Duduza in ‘n nagmerrie

ontaard toe sy op 1 Desember etlike meters

ver in die Kingskloof naby die Rocky Vallei

–vakansieoord geval het.

Sy het rug- kop- en gesigbeserings

opgedoen en moes met ‘n helikopter na die

Johannesburgse Algemene Hospitaal gehaas

word.

‘n Pastoor en sy vrou het die oggend naby

die ongelukstoneel gebid toe hulle die

ongeluk sien gebeur het. Hulle het na die

groep gehaas en die kampbestuurder, Derek

Schroeder, daarvan verwittig.

Lede van die die Suid-Afrikaanse Bergklub-

vereniging en die Off-Road Rescue Klub is

ontbied en het by hul aankoms gevind dat

haar toestand te ernstig was om haar per voet

met ‘n draagbaar te vervoer.

Die dogter was deel van ‘n jeuggroep wat

die vorige dag vir ‘n kamp by vakansieoord

op die terrein van die Presbiteriaanse Kerk

opgedaag het. Dis nou al die vyfde jaar dat

die organiseerders van die jeuggroep die

kamp aanbied.

Schroeder het die bergklub wat dikwels in die

klowe klim, se nommer gehad en hulle ontbied.

Ook die nooddienste se hulp is ingeroep.

Nadat die meisie se toestand geëvalueer is,

het die reddingswerkers besluit om 17 Eskader

van die Lugmag by Swarkop-lugmagbasis se

hulp in te roep.

‘n Onyx helikopter het ‘n hystoestel laat sak

waarmee die meisie opgehys is. Die

reddingswerkers het gehelp om die draagbaar

te stabiliseer terwyl sy opgehys is.

Schroeder het aan koerante gesê dat die meisie

snye aan haar kop en gesig gehad het. Dis

met steke geheg.

Daar is ook X-straal foto’s van haar rug

geneem. Die presiese aard van haar beserings

en haar toestand was met die ter perse gaan

nie bekend nie.

Oktober ‘n gholfdag by Heidelberg

Gholfklub aangebied om geld vir drie

projekte in te samel.

Die ondersteuning van ‘n stuk of tagtig

spelers en ‘n paar goeie borge het die sakke

van die A. G. Visserhuis, Heidelberg DBV en

die Renosterprojek van Pilansberg elk met ‘n

Besigheidskamer slaan geld los vir instansies

Power Construction, een van die borge. Hier is Nico van

Huyssteen (links) President van Heidelberg Besigheids-

kamer, Hennie van der Merwe en Jaco Coetzer afgeneem.

die gholfdag opgetree het, was Hunters, die

Power Group wat die Heidelberg Boulevard

ontwikkel, Toyota en die Mashakane Groep

wat o.a. die Stihl-grassnyerreeks verkoop.

Toyota was een van die borge wat

die gholfdag ‘n sukses help maak

The Seller may also be responsiblefor the payment of “penalty interest”, wherethe Seller does not give the bond holder 90days notice of the intended cancellation ofthe bond.(i) The bond cancellation costsThese costs are payable to the attorneyswho attend to the cancellation of the bondover the property, on behalf of the bank.Normally these costs are to be paid in ad-vance. If the Seller is unable to pay thesecosts in advance, then the bond cancella-tion attorney may accept an undertakingfrom the transferring attorney for the pay-ment of the costs upon registration of trans-fer.(ii) Agent’s commissionThe estate agent is traditionally employedby the Seller. The amount of the commis-

Theamount of the commission is not “fixed” bylaw, and is highly negotiable between theSeller and his agent. It is important that theSeller remember that he and the Purchaser maynot reach an agreement between each otherin terms whereof the estate agent is excluded.Sellers who try to exclude their agents in thisregard, run the risk of being sued by the es-tate agents for their commission. Agents com-mission is payable upon registration of trans-fer, and is paid directly by the transferringattorney from the proceeds of the sale to theestate agent.(iii) The electrical certificateUnless the parties specifically agree in writ-ing that the Seller is not responsible for pro-viding the Purchaser with an “electrical cer-tificate”, the Seller remains responsible fordoing so. The costs of the certificate shalldepend upon the condition of the property.The certificate is to be provided by a quali-fied electrician. As the electrician is normallyappointed by the Seller, the Seller shall paythe electrician directly, and shall pay anamount agreed upon with the electrician.(iv) Rates and taxesBefore the transferring attorney can registerthe transfer of the property, he must file acertificate from the local municipality, which

certificate must confirm that all outstandingrates and taxes have been paid to the localmunicipality. In most cases the certificate isvalid for a period of 6 months from the dateof issuing thereof. This means that the ratesand taxes are effectively paid in advance fora period of 6 months. The municipalities willnormally insist upon payment before issu-ing the certificate. In exceptional cases themunicipality may be persuaded to accept anundertaking from the transferring attorneythat these costs will be paid upon registra-tion of transfer of the property. As the mu-nicipality has no way of knowing the exactdate upon which the registration of transfershall take place, the Seller is responsible forthe payment of the costs of the certificate.Once the property is transferred, the Pur-chaser is responsible for all further rates andtaxes. After registration the municipality willrefund a portion of the costs to the Seller.So, for example, the Seller will be refundedtwo months worth of rates and taxes, wherethe property is transferred four months afterthe certificate is issued.(v) Penalty interestWhere the Seller has a bond registered overthe property, the relevant bank may requirethat the Seller provide a period of notice ofhis intention to cancel the bond. Normallythis period is 90 days. If the bond is can-celled before the 90 day period expires, then

the Seller may be required to pay a penaltyto the bank. The penalty may be as muchas 90 days interest. Sellers would thereforebe wise to give their banks notice, wherenecessary, as soon as an offer to purchasehas been signed by the Purchaser.In closing I wish to once again recommendthat both Sellers and Purchasers obtain le-gal advice from their attorneys before con-cluding purchase / sale agreements. It is ofparticular importance that Sellers make sureof the balance of their outstanding bondsover the property, before entering into apurchase agreement. The inter-schools karate championships were hosted recently at the

Portuguese Hall in Nigel.

More than 500 competitors representing over 100 schools, partici-

pants came from a wide area including Mpumalanga and the Free

State. With over 90 individual divisions and 1100 individual perform-

ances the competition is arguable one of the best organised tourna-

ments, which starts and finishes on time as per the scheduled pro-

gramme. This Interschool Karate is also well represented in the three

major styles of karate in the country.

Project Description:1) The resmelting of metallurgical waste into a manganese alloy for sale or addition to a third party’s production facilities, 2)the production of a high carbon ferromanganese alloy (“HCFeMn”) from virgin manganese ore and 3) a small amount ofsilicomanganese alloy (“SiMn”) on a special order basis. A small amount of medium carbon ferromanganese alloy (“MCFeMn”)is produced by cocktailing HCFeMn with Admox. Admox is a tri-manganese tetra-oxide (Mn

3O4) containing dust emanating

from manganese alloy refining operation of the Samancor Manganese (Pty) Ltd plant situated in Meyerton Gauteng.

Notice is hereby given in terms of Regulation 54(2)(c) of GNR 543 to the National Environmental Management Act (No. 107 of 1998), thatapplication has been made by Blue Sphere Investments & Trading 103 (Pty) Ltd to the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and RuralDevelopment and the Department of Environmental Affairs for the following authorisations:

a.To the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development: Environmental Authorisation (S24G/05/10-11/0004) by way ofrectification in terms of Section 24(g) as read with Section 12(3) of the Environmental Management Amendment Act (No. 62 of 2008)for activities described in items 1(c)(ii), 8 and 9 of GNR 1182 (now repealed) to the Environment Conservation Act (No. 73 of 1989).

The activity is listed in terms of Regulation R 1182 promulgated in terms of the Environmental Conservation Act (No. 73 of 1989) as:1(c)(ii) The construction, erection or upgrading of, with regard to any substance which is dangerous or hazardous and iscontrolled by national legislation, manufacturing, storage, handling, treatment or processing facilities for any such substance;8)The disposal of waste as defined in section 20 of the Act, excluding domestic waste, but not including the establishment,expansion, upgrading or closure of facilities for all waste, ashes and building rubble; and9) Scheduled processes listed in the Second Schedule to the Atmospheric Pollution Prevention Act, (No. 45 of 1965).

These are:30) Iron and steel processes: That is to say, processes –a)In which iron, iron ores, steel or ferro-alloys are produced or processed so as to give rise to noxious or offensive gases; orb)Involving the cleaning of castings and handling of casting mould materials.53)Manganese process: That is to say, process in which manganese or alloys or any compound of manganese is made bydry methods giving rise to noxious or offensive gases;63) Silicon processes: that is to say, processes in which metallic silicon is made by the application of heat; and66) Metallurgical slag processes: That is to say, processes in which the use of metallurgical slag gives rise to noxious oroffensive gases.

The corresponding items as listed in terms of GNR 545 promulgated in terms of the National Environmental Management Act (No.107 of 1998) as:

5) The construction of facilities or infrastructure at Blue Sphere Investments & Trading 103 (Pty) Ltd for any process or activitywhich require a permit or license in terms of national or provincial legislation governing the generation or release or emission,pollution or effluent and which is not identified in Notice No. 544 of 2010 or included in the list of waste management activitiespublished in terms of section 19 of the National Environmental Management: Waste Act (No. 59 of 2008) in which case that act willapply; and26)Commencing of an activity, which requires an atmospheric emissions license in terms of section 21 of the NationalEnvironmental Management: Air Quality Act (No. 39 of 2004), except where such commencement requires basic assessmentin terms of Notice of no. R544 of 2010.

b.To the Department of Environmental Affairs: A Waste Management License (12/9/11/L630/3) in terms of section 20(b) of the NationalEnvironmental Management: Waste Act (No. 59 of 2008) for activities 3(2) and 4(3) listed in GN 718 to the Act. The activities read asfollows:Category A (Triggers a Basic Assessment Process):

Activity 3 (2): The storage, including the temporary storage, of hazardous waste at a facility that has the capacity to storein excess of 35m3 of hazardous waste at any one time, excluding the storage of hazardous waste in lagoons.
