Example 1 :
Determine the peak flow rate and
diameter of discharge pipe required to
carry the discharges from 44 flats if the
stack loading is to be limited to one-fifth
full bore. Each flat has 1 W.C, 1 wash
basin, a bath and a sink.
CONTOH PENGIRAAN
From TABLE 6:
1 W.C = 12 d.u
1 wash basin = 1 d.u
1 bath = 6 d.u
1 sink = 3 d.u
Total discharge unit/floor = 12+1+6+3 = 22
TOTAL = 44 x 22 = 968 discharge units
CONTOH PENGIRAAN
From GRAPH 3 :
968 discharge units are equivalent to a
flow load of approximately 6.2 litres/sec
Use 125 mm stack
( as 125 mm stack at one-fifth loading
can carry 8 litres/sec )

Example 2 :
Determine the peak flow rate and
diameter of discharge pipe to receive
the discharge from 20 W.C.’s and 20
wash basins used by females in an
office block.
CONTOH PENGIRAAN
20 W.C’s (female) x 45 = 900
20 wash basins x 5 = 100
Total discharge units 1000
The flow rate for 1000 d.u = 6.4 litres/sec
Use 100 mm stack
( as 100 mm stack at one-quater loading can
carry 7 litres/sec )
