DECODING THE X FACTOR

The X factor or game changer ,in most scenarios, is a concept referred as PRICELESS CONTRIBUTION (PC)

X factor = Priceless Contribution

But why will others work for our success?

Because they find we are looking for ways to enhance their success! Greater success for all can be achieved when we all are interested in each other’s growth and wellbeing. This is the context of Priceless Contribution or ‘PC’.

PC is done naturally, with joy and without any compulsion. This habit builds with practice. Once the participants begin to see the consistent results, it becomes compelling.

PC is enabling progress of others without compromising self. Here people go beyond their defined roles to help others succeed while delivering their own goals.

It creates a chain reaction & this behavior percolates in the entire eco-system: with clients, vendors & colleagues.

NEED FOR PC CULTURE IN ORGANIZATIONS

It is the key differentiator for any organization giving it the winning edge.

Transforms teams from competing/co-operative to collaborative mode

An effective investment of available resources

Acts of PC in the bio network enhances overall efficiency

FEEDBACK ON PREVIOUS WORKSHOPS

Mahesh MadhavanRegional President, Middle East & Africa (Bacardi)

It taught me positive thinking, and demonstrated how one can change actual on-the-ground situations with the aid of constructive thinking. I have personally seen situations change for the better when we approach them with a positive manner and intent. It has now become now a way of life at Bacardi India to view things through a positive lens, in order to create ways and means of achieving our vision. This has helped us enormously.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT PC

In reality everyone we deal with wants to maximize their gain. How can PC work in such an environment ?

When we act with a pure intent of PC, without sacrifice & without expectation, it creates ripples of trust. Chances are higher that others let go their defense & doubt. A win-win situation can be created. PC can enhance the value of the deal itself leading to higher value to all involved.

How do I do PC in a business context in addition to being nice to people, taking care of them…?

Mentoring juniors to help them achieve their targets

Connecting a customer / vendor to his potential client

Organizing an expert lecture on a relevant topic for my colleagues

Organizing a lecture by my boss in a forum outside the company, to share his expertise.

Asking peers from an associated department: “What can I change in my style to make your work easier & faster”

How is PC different from ‘giving’?

Giving may involve sacrifice, money while PC does not. PC is doing something priceless that demonstrates a true intent to grow the other person. There is no expectation of return in any form.

How can one live without expectation? Should I not expect my junior to deliver?

Let’s distinguish between “Having Expectations” vs. “Having Rights”. When you sell something, expecting payment of goods/services is your Right not Expectation. Expecting your junior to do his work is your Right and not Expectation.

When you offer tea or snacks to a guest and then expect him to offer you something in return is an expectation and therefore invites stress. When you do something out of your way for a colleague and expect him to respond similarly is again Expectation and not a Right.

Paying for goods and services and wanting commensurate quality is the right of the buyer. That is different from the expectations as explained above. Providing service commensurate with the payment as per the agreement is duty and not PC.

What should I do when in a business context the person I am dealing with is acting like a Taker?

Always remain assertive about what you consider appropriate. Being aggressive will result in a fight, being passive will result in you feeling over-powered.

Maybe this person has lost touch with inner peace, power & self love & thus is drawing energy from outside. So instead of getting caught in his cycle, bless him: “May he be reconnected with his inner power, find peace and calmness”.

Find a common goal that is beyond you & him and articulate that.
