What is Ganoderma lucidum

- A woody polypore with a long stalk, brown spores, and a fan-shaped cap with a shiny, varnish-coated appearance.

- Grows at the base and stumps of deciduous trees (particularly maple)

Our Version (PNW)

• The Oregon Polypore (Ganoderma oregonense) grows on conifers in western United States, from California to Washington.  It is closely related to Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum).

• Oregon Polypore (Ganoderma oregonense) differs from Reishi in that it prefers cooler temperatures (approximately 10° F less), is larger (up to 1 m wide), and grows on conifers (hemlock, fir, spruce).
