Risk of poisoning caused by the incor-rect use of cleaning and care products.

▶ Observe the information on thecleaning and care products.

▶ Do not use any diesel, regular orpremium fuels for cleaning.

▶ After use, always keep cleaning andcare products sealed and stored cor-rectly out of the reach of children.

Note

Stain removal

Refer to the “Overview of stain type /treatment advice” section.

Note

Flat-weave fabric upholsteries

Flat‐weave fabrics are a relatively newtype of fabric construction in the busdivision. They differ from the familiarvelour fabrics not only in their appear-ance, but also in the way they should

be treated and used. The differences intheir properties impact directly on theuser, i.e. the bus operator.

Flat‐weave fabrics have an innovative, modern look and combine well withmany kinds of material. They are veryrobust, easy to maintain and can usuallybe cleaned without any trace being leftbehind. Although the cleaning interval isshorter than that for velour fabrics, thisis ultimately beneficial to hygiene.

This upholstery material is also charac-terised by the fact that stains and im-pressions left by an occupant's bodyshow up quickly, and it is very sensit-ive to solvent‐based cleaning agents(particularly in the case of flocked ma-terial). Regular cleaning is essential topreserving a maintained appearance andkeeping it looking as good as new.

Note

Cleaning notes

Soiling may occur in the form of stainscaused during use, e.g. by drink andfood spills, road grime or similar. In mostcases, these can be removed straightfor-wardly with regular dry or wet cleaning. To keep the flat‐weave fabric upholsteryin the best possible condition, it is ne-cessary to clean the fabric regularly. Wemake the following recommendation forcleaning intervals:

• Dry cleaning once a week.

• Basic cleaning (see below) as requiredor at least every 6 months

Cleaning step 1

1. Dry cleaning by vacuuming (e.g.seats) with a dry vacuum cleaner.

Cleaning step 2

1. Wet cleaning with a commerciallyavailable wet vacuum appliance. Ex-erting gentle pressure, work the seatsquab padding from back to front and

Page 18: Reinigungs und Pflegeanleitung ENG - Daimler · Name: Cleaningandcareinstructions Language: ENG Edition: 03.05.2017 Orderno.: A6285849216 EvoBusGmbH D-89231Neu-Ulm Germany ©EvoBusGmbH2017

Interior

the backrest from top to bottom. Thepadding should be wet all over by theend of the treatment in order to avoidthe formation of outlines.

Cleaning step 3

1. Then leave the padding to dry for asuitable period, depending on ambi-ent temperature, but for at least 24hours.

TipNotes on optimum careMany stains are removed effect-ively by soap solution or washing‐upliquid. Never use cleaning agentscontaining solvents. These couldbe unkind to flat‐weave fabric up-holsteries. Similarly, strong rubbingshould be avoided. Please work witha circular motion, otherwise the fab-ric could be damaged.

Impregnation

Note

To improve the anti‐stain performanceof flat‐weave fabrics, these upholsteriescan be treated with an FC impregnatingagent (fluorocarbon). This must not besprayed on until after the drying phasestated under cleaning step 3.

Note

The textile protectant should be sprayedon neat. The protectant is colourlessand odourless and does not affect thecolours of the textiles.

Good air circulation should be ensuredat the time of application. The roofhatches, the doors and, if applicable, thewindows of the bus should be opened. The textile protectant must not comeinto contact with the eyes. Protectivegloves and a respirator mask must alsobe worn. Further information and safetyprecautions are stored in BusDoc.

The user information issued by the man-ufacturer of the textile protectant mustbe strictly observed.

Note

All cleaning agents needed for vehicleinterior aftercare can be obtained fromauthorised OMNIplus Service Centres. The advisers there will be happy to an-swer any questions.

Underbody

1. Observe the general information inthe Directions for care and cleaning( → page 4) section.

NoteUnderbody refers to the entire un-derside of the bus, whether it maybe the floor, the wheel housings orthe underbody skeleton.

NoteThe underbody should be inspectedat regular intervals and cleanedaccording to the level of dirt, but atleast once a year in conjunction withthe annual maintenance service. This makes it possible to identifyand remedy in good time any partof the underbody protection coatingthat may be flawed or damaged.

Cleaning the underbody with a hot-water high-pressure cleaner

Note

Remove the protective cladding on theunderbody and clean it separately.

Note

The underbody is coated to protect itfrom corrosion and stone impact. Cleanas carefully as possible to avoid washingoff or damaging the good protectivelayers. The spraying distance should beadjusted to suit the water temperature, water pressure and the spray nozzle.

Note

The underbody should be washed mainlywith clean water. Save the use of acleaning agent for dirt that proves verydifficult to remove.

Environmental protection

Observe waste water regulations.Clean the bus only in an appropriatelyequipped cleaning bay.

1. Carry out a full inspection of the un-derbody, paying particular attentionto damage and to layers that are ab-normally saturated and discolouredwith dirt.

NoteSome defects are evident only whenthe underbody is dirty, all trace ofwhich may disappear after cleaning. For example, it may be possible toidentify leaking unions on oil, fueland coolant lines and reservoirs aswell as leak points on assembliesfrom the level of dirt saturation andconcealed corrosion in discolouredlayers. Flaws and defects that areidentified should be rectified aftercleaning.

NotePay particular attention to dirt de-posits in corners, cavities, wheelhousings and on lines, as well asbetween the ramp and underbody.

8. Rinse off the layer of dirt on the un-derbody using a high-pressure waterjet.

NoteOnly direct the high‐pressure jetat seams, gaps or cavities for briefperiods. Water that penetrates deepinto the structure of bus could pro-mote concealed corrosion acceler-ated by the effects of the cleaningagent and lead to the weakening ofload‐bearing parts of the skeleton.

9. Shut off the delivery of detergent andrinse down all areas of the underbodywith water.

NoteThe cleaning agent must not beleft to dry. Residue from cleaningproducts could permanently damagesurface finishes and moving parts.

10. Clean out openings and condensatedrain holes in pipes, body profiles andcavities manually, e.g. using a thin, pointed object.

NoteDo not wash out drainage openingsusing a pressure cleaner. Theseopenings ensure that condensateand any water that penetrates theseareas during cleaning is able to drainout and dry off.

11. Leave the underbody to dry naturally.12. To finish, carry out a visual inspection

of the underbody.

NoteDuring the visual inspection, lookover complete and undamaged pro-tective coatings (wax and stone chipprotection) in particular and look outfor corrosion damage. Also checkfor damage to tyres, suspension airbags, brake hoses, seal cups andbearings for moving parts, as wellas electrical lines and their connec-tions.

NoteFlaws and defects must be repairedto a professional standard, bearingsand joints must be lubricated. Dam-aged tyres, suspension air bags andpressure hoses must be replacedwith new ones.
