Regulator boats are designed exclusively by renowned Naval Architect Lou Codega, PE. The

designs reflect his extensive knowledge and passion for offshore fishing and the unpredictable

nature of that environment. All Regulator boats are built to get you to the best fishing grounds

quickly and to get you home again in safety and comfort.

Designed for the most demanding fishermen, Regulator boats have all the features that you want

in a convenient and logical layout. Large capacity fuel tanks increase fishing time and range.

Tackle centers are designed by fishermen for fishermen. Over-sized livewells and storage

compartments keep equipment easily accessible and dry. Additionally, Regulator’s legendary

“soft” ride is attained through the unique configuration of the hull design, combined with detailed

analysis and the application of weight distribution of tanks and component parts.

Once the design is complete, engineers develop fabrication and assembly plans. These include

detailed and extensive quality-assurance procedures. The initial boat of any model series is a

prototype that engineering thoroughly tests and evaluates to establish the best practices and

procedures for entering that model into production. The engineering staff spends countless hours

on the shop floor, observing and listening to the craftsmen in order to find areas for product or

process improvements.

After the prototype model is built, engineering puts it through rigorous testing and evaluation.

As with any model in production, engineering continues to monitor the production process and

receive input from the assembly teams for further improvements. To assure customer satisfaction

and further enhance a model’s features, engineering actively solicits input from Regulator owners

and dealers that directly impacts the ongoing model updates and improvements.

The engineers at Regulator know how an offshore sportfishing

boat is used and clearly understand the harsh environment in

which they operate. When you are miles offshore, the weather

can change rapidly. Regulator boats are engineered and built

to maximize your safety out there and get you home.

A benefit of designing and engineering a safer offshore

sportfishing boat is the solid ride a heavier deep-vee hull

produces. The same qualities that create a smoother ride make

a substantially more rugged boat.

Regulator boats are designed, engineered and built to be the

most reliable, safe and fishable boats in the world, bar none.

The results are a boat you will enjoy for years to come. Most

boats are beautiful on the outside, combining elegant form

with beautiful colors and new gelcoats. However, as everyone

knows, lasting beauty runs much deeper. Lamination is a series

of critical processes that can produce either hidden qualities

or hidden problems. At Regulator, laminates are hand-laid

by experienced craftsmen that take the time to do their jobs

flawlessly. Regulator has one of the most advanced lamination

facilities in the world. The high-powered ventilation system

allows the lamination team to work without respirators.

The regulated air also assures that the resins cure in a

controlled environment. Only the finest glass, resins, gelcoats,

barrier coats and processes are used. Significant cost savings

could be realized by using lesser quality materials and

processes, but then it wouldn’t be a Regulator.

Regulator’s hulls are laminated to last a lifetime and to withstand the rigors of offshore fishing. Regulator’s

lamination process takes place in a highly controlled environment.

All molds are waxed and inspected before entering the lamination area. The mold is masked for the two colors of gelcoating.The white bottom gelcoat is applied to a consistent high quality and optimum thickness that assures a long-lasting gloss finisheven in harsh marine environments. While the gelcoat is pliable, the masking is removed.

After the masking is removed, the mold is again inspected and prepared. The color gelcoat on the hull sides is then applied tothe same high quality and optimum thickness of the hull bottom. During the gelcoat process, mil-gauges are used to assure the thickness and consistency.

To further enhance the durability and beauty of the gelcoat, an additional layer of barrier coat is applied next. Following the application, a highly controlled mix of chopped strand mat and resin is sprayed onto the hull. The lamination team assuresthere are no inconsistencies or air pockets.

A layer of Trevira® Stop Print is added to assure the knitted material that is about to be applied will not cause imprinting throughthe previous coats. Caution is taken that the material is smooth and fits properly. Trevira® is thoroughly saturated with resin.

Over the Trevira® is a thick layer of chopped strand mat, topped by 36-ounce bi-axial knitted fiberglass cloth. This process is repeated over multiple layers. During the hull lamination process, strakes are filled with poly-bond material and individuallyglassed in. This strengthens the strakes and the hull.

Assembly

Regulator boats are assembled by highly-trained and skilled craftsmen utilizing the latest tools which are kept

in perfect working order through regular maintenance programs. Small component parts, such as leaning

posts and tackle centers are pre-assembled with their proper hardware (latches, hinges). The small component

parts are all installed with the finest stainless steel fasteners and marine-grade adhesives. Each boat model

has a series of wiring harnesses specifically designed for that model. Each harness has special connectors

that make the assembly process simpler and more reliable, while making component replacement like a faulty

navigation light or pump, as simple as unplugging the used item and plugging in the new. Every boat receives

a final cleaning and buffing to a showroom shine. After final inspection, the boat is wrapped in tough shrink

wrap so it arrives at the dealer in pristine condition.

“The whole is greater than the sum of the parts.” Nowhere is this more true than in boat building. Regulator

formed partnerships with top vendors that are marine specialist who share the company’s quality ideals.

Vendors such as GG Schmitt Welding who incorporate the highest quality standards in their aluminum tubing

and construction practices … and suppliers like Yamaha who provide powerful and reliable Yamaha® outboard

four-stroke motors. Components battling saltwater’s corrosive nature require quality stainless steel fasteners,

hinges, latches, deck hardware, pumps, electrical systems, plumbing and tanks. This is why Regulator boats

are the most trouble-free and reliable boats in sportfishing today.

Regulator ’s soft ride is

directly the result of how

the hull was designed

using Regulator ’s grillage

system. The grillage is an

extremely rugged molded

fiberglass stringer system

that adds an enormous

amount of strength to the

hull. This eliminates much of the stress at the deck, liner and hull joint.

The grillage is bonded to the hull with a high-strength polybond adhesive system.

The grillage is then pressed into place with heavy weights in strategic locations

and bi-axial fiberglass is applied to the edges. To add strength and reduce noise,

foam is injected into the grillage voids. The wide top surfaces of the grillage system

provide a large platform where the liner is bonded — the grillage, deck and the

hull essentially become a solid unit. Ultimately, you feel the difference when

offshore and nothing is moving under your feet. You know you are on a boat

designed to handle the high seas.

Every Regulator model begins as six major components: first the

hull (1) and grillage system (2) are bonded and fiberglassed

together in the mold prior to entering the assembly area. In the

assembly area, all the tanks, plumbing systems and wiring

harnesses are installed into the hull. The third major component,

the liner (3) is poly-bonded to the grillage and hull to form the

inner deck and sides. A high-grade, below-the-waterline quality

adhesive is applied to the fourth major component, the deck cap

(4), and then it is bonded to the top side of the hull sides and

liner at the gunwale. The rub rail is added and the whole

assembly is through-bolted with stainless-steel fasteners every

six inches. The center console (5) is bonded into the liner. Finally,

the T-Top (6) is bolted and bonded onto the center console.
