Addiction is not an individual problem. Addiction is a family disease. One person may use, but the whole family suffers. Giving up on the addiction is never going to be easy. It is going to take time, a lot of time, but in the end it will all be worth the hard work. It’s always once step at a time, one day at a time, one hour at a time and there are many ways to help to you recover. One such way is Sober living facility.

First we need to understand what exactly is sober living facility or sober living homes. Sober living homes are actually home for the addicts. Most of these are private or owned by business houses and some even by the charity organizers. However, it is very important to regulate them. Sober living facilities or homes are way different from the rehab facilities.

In rehabs, the facilities offer an intensive recovery experience and give residents less freedom, while those living in sober homes can mostly come and go as they please provided they follow the rules. Sober living houses may require the residents to be home by a certain time or to go to work during the day. Residents are also usually subject to random drug tests to prove that they are sober.

People who live in sober living facility are expected to be

responsible. Addiction is a big, big mistake but mistake can be forgiven if a person has the courage to admit

it. If the mistake is admitted, one naturally feels responsible.

Also being responsible is an important step in

recovery because addiction causes people

to act in irresponsible ways, and the friends and families of addicts often enable them by

supporting them.

The purpose of the sober living facility is to be a drug-free setting for people with the desire to avoid alcohol and drug use. The main requirement of a sober living house is sobriety. Many homes encourage residents to take part in group therapy and/or 12-step meetings. Residents are encouraged to develop and work toward goals such as completing school, finding a job, or getting their finances in order.

However, it is not always and not all sober living homes that follow all the rules and therefore, it is very important to regulate the sober living facilities.
