Additional Website Information- Black Nova

- https://dklette.com/ - mobile friendly (menu in top right corner by pressing the 3 bars), large full size image, menu and navigation at the top, cleaner and simpler

While those are current clients, really we can do anything. We have lots of other clients but usually after we hand the website over the quality degrades so I don’t want to highlight those ones.
From our conversations I like the town of Osler (http://townofosler.com/) and the (https://townoflampman.ca/) as you mentioned and would expect your site to be similar to one of these. The thing to note is we’ll need to make sure you can get some good photographs of the town or some good stock photos like Lampman has.
To keep the site up to date in terms of a tech point of view, we could do an annual service for $300/yr +tax which would have us go through and clean up everything that needs to be cleaned up, fixed, upgraded or any other general things. If you wanted to add major components/functionality that would be extra and costs could be discussed then.

ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT REPORT
Submitted to: Langham Town CouncilFrom: Margot OrrDate: 27/05/2019
Grants 1. Saskatchewan Lotteries Grant Fund
The final receipts have been submitted for all the community groups that had applied for the April 2018- March 2019 funding period. A detailed breakdown of the allocation of funds is attached, to be approved by council.
Events1. Langham Days
Langham Days Planning is 90% complete. This year we will be having laser tag, a petting zoo, a bouncy castle obstacle course, a
balloon man, face painting, a band at the sports grounds and of course the Spray Park Grand Opening.
Spray Park Grand Opening- Speakers? It is my goal to increase participants in this year’s parade. We are having prizes for
1st, 2nd and 3rd place this year and we have invited all local businesses to come and partake.
Facilities and Parks 1. Langham Curling Rink- Shared User Agreement
On May 8th we had the Curling Club meeting to discuss the Shared User Agreement. The initial meeting regarding the Shared User Agreement resulted in the following;
The Curling Club felt that the initial language and layout of the agreement was too formal, as such we are in the process of reworking the agreement into a more approachable format.
Each party is in the process of compiling a list of the utilities and maintenance items at the rink and will allocate which party they believe is responsible for each expense.
The Town is in the process of looking into insurance concerns voiced by the Curling Club, we are looking at whether small rentals require insurance, concession insurance and insurance carried by the Curling Club.
The Curling Club and the Town are planning to meet again sometime in mid-June to finalize the next draft of the agreement. A date has not yet been set.
Economic Development 1. Economic Development Strategy
Page 26 of 28
Phase one of the Strategy is nearly complete. As I had identified in my breakdown of this section of the phase a Community Needs Assessment Survey would be conducted. You can find the survey attached, please let me know if you have any suggestions for other questions.
2. Business Development I have been working closely with a new business that is opening up in Town. After
discussing and working to find a location, the property was purchased. We have gone over building information, zoning, bylaws and the tax incentive policy.
The anticipated opening will be in July.
3. Marketing- Website As was discussed previously there were several options for the new website
development. The favored quote from Black Nova has provided the additional information that was requested by Council. Please see attached.
Education1. SEDA Conference
I attended the SEDA Intersections for Growth Conference on April 28-30th. A wide array of topics were covered including being investment ready and entrepreneurial friendly, ways to market within communities to promote shopping local, regional collaboration and much more.
The conference was also a valuable networking opportunity where many municipal economic development professionals were able to share information and helpful resources that we can utilize for our economic development strategy.
Hi Margot, I got the pricing sorted out for the alert system. For the website:
- Built to resemble the Osler and Lampman websites o Mobile friendly – resizes and resembles an app
- Subdomain or page for the Rink (so you don’t need separate site) - Built with a content management system so you can easily edit the site and post updates, PDF’s
etc - Fillable email form for service requests – will go direct to email address - Banner across the top capability (for emergencies) - Can embed google calendar or similar for events - Agenda / Minutes integration – they will build that site to mirror your new site’s look - Fillable PDF forms constructed – Rental Agreement etc - Alert System signup
The cost to build the website would be $5,000 + tax, one time fee. Currently your email is hosted by quadrant, I’m not sure who is hosting the website itself, I think it may be hosted somewhere else as you mentioned. If we took over the hosting, it would likely be $300/yr+tax, flat rate. We may be able to have quadrant handle it at no cost (you may already be paying for it and not using it from them as they handle your email). The alert system – there are two ways we can do the alerts, one is how we talked about where we send it to their phone number via an email address. This works but is dependant on their cellphone provider and if they change providers etc it could get kind of messy (the messages wouldn’t go through on the wrong provider. The other thing we could do is integrate it into a actual text messaging platform – similar to how the alert system Saskatoon uses. It would go to everyone signed up no matter what their provider is. The difference is that this one would cost about $100/yr + tax – this would be flat rate for the size of your population. There would be a limit but given the number of alerts and how many people you have that would cover everything and would be the way I would suggest going. I think this covers everything we talked about, if you have other questions let me know. Other than the hosting / one alert system, this would be a flat rate cost. In general most of our clients have no issues doing all of the updates on their own.
