New materials and new processes for the 2020s

- As petrochemical production in the Arabian Gulf moves downstream, manufacturing is going through massive change involving computer-aided design and process control

- This seminar will delve into the vital role the polymer industry now plays in providing these materials and the need for new initiatives

- It will also explore the two stand-out techniques: composite manufacturing and additive manufacturing

Led by

Feedstock push hits the demand wall

- Petrochemicals is being viewed as the future because of increasing feedstock availability and declining demand growth for gasoline and diesel

- Middle East and American companies have led a new wave of investments

- But polymer demand is stalling and politics are changing

- During this seminar, speakers will analyze how these currents come together and where the pain points will be, while assessing the effects across the major regions

Led by

Patterns of value creation in the global chemical and petrochemical industries

- The seminar will provide insights from the most recent report from the Boston Consulting Group on value creation patterns in the chemical industry

- The report will be published towards the end of 2018 giving participants a detailed preview

- Uncover how different segments within the industry have created value

- 20-year, 10-year and five-year comparisons between chemical segments

Led by

Global energy transition: Friend or foe to the chemical sector in the Middle East?

- This seminar will highlight the timing and scale of megatrends, focusing on the impact on the chemical sector in terms of chemical demand and feedstock availability

- Explore the likely impact on the Middle East of conditions under this outlook

- Assess the competitive position of the Middle East chemical industry

Leaders of Tomorrow, an initiative launched by the GPCA and supported by its members, aims to build the local human capital in the GCC region. The initiative falls under ‘advocacy’, one of the three pillars of the association, by promoting STEM and bridging the gap between academia and the industry.

Since its inception in 2016, Leaders of Tomorrow is now in its 9th edition and has delivered successful programs to over 400 students in engineering and chemistry fields from over 40 universities across the Gulf region. The program has also featured 23 key industry speakers from both regional and international organizations and has seen sponsorship from over 23 Gulf companies.

Leaders of Tomorrow has proven a successful platform for knowledge exchange between academia and the industry and provides students with the tools and skills needed to flourish in their careers through presentations and interactive networking sessions in addition to plant and site visits to get a taste of working in the industry.

THE 9TH EDITION OF GPCA’S LEADERS OF TOMORROW

“Leaders of Tomorrow is one of the GPCA’s flagship programs which today is really taking a twist. With the changing industry dynamics, there is a sense of urgency to accelerate the development of our talent. This is something upon which companies can capitalize.”

Abdulaziz Al-Oudan, EVP, Corporate Human Resources, SABIC
