Four generations of the Sheremetevs were connected with Ivanovo. Pyotr Petrovich Sheremetev (born 1931) is a direct descendant of the village owners. He visits Ivanovo often; he is rector of the University of Education and Image (Ivanovo). The city holds Sheremetev assemblies and Sheremetev readings; a festival of spiritual music. In 1999, under his patronage, an Ivanovo-Voznesensk military school for 140 cadets was started and named after count Boris P.Sheremetev. Honorary citizen of Ivanovo. Marina Ivanovna Tsvetaeva ( ) – a famous Russian poetess of the Silver Century. In Ivanovo there is a small wooden house where three generations of the Tsvetaevs lived from 1853 to Vladimir Vasilevich Tsvetaev ( ) the priest was the grandfather of the poet of Marina Tsvetaeva. Personal things, books, photos of the family give the chance to visitors to feel the atmosphere of the house, to touch its relics. Andrey Arsenevich Tarkovskiy (1932 – 1986) was born in Ivanovo oblast. His father was a famous Russian poet. Andrey Tarkovskiy became an outstanding script-writer, producer and a film director. Every year an international film festival “Mirror’ is held in Ivanovo in honour of Tarkovskiy’s memory. A lot of guests including the representatives of his family come to Tarkovskiy’s birthplace in Ivanovo. Luobov Sergeevna Sokolova ( ) – a Soviet and Russian actress. Born in Ivanovo. Famous for her parts in 384 films. Her name was put in the Guinness Book of Records. Andrey Leonidovich Martynov (born in 1945) a famous Russian actor honored with many rewards for his parts in 40 films. A well- known couturier Vyacheslav Zaitsev (born 1938) began his career in Ivanovo after graduating from Ivanovo State University of Chemistry and Technology. The president of the Slava Zaitsev fashion house. The permanent president the Textile Salon contest, the only contest in Russia for domestic fabrics and collection of clothing from them.TRANSCRIPT
