Regional Identity
Joseph Toyer

Irish – Ted Crilly
• Ted lives on a rural island where everything is at a low quality.
• Ted drinks and has the Irish accent, so he fits with the stereotype.
• He is a Christian, though he puts himself before his job as a priest.
• However Ted is not the happiest of Irish nor the smartest, though he particularly is not stupid.
Welsh – Gwen Cooper
• Gwen Cooper has the standard Welsh dialect and accent.
• She was born in Swansea, a location in Wales.
• This particular character seems to get into affairs with people, suggesting that the Welsh could be flirty people.
England – Ronnie Mitchell
• Ronnie is described by her actress to be intelligent but have trust issues.
• Ronnie works at a bar in East London, fitting with one of the
stereotypical English people.• ?

• She often drinks too much and becomes aggressive, does
soft drugs and has low grades.

• Joey invented part of the Essex dialect, specifically ‘Reem’ and is also cousin to Chloe, a glamour model.
• He doesn’t seem to be smart, even having a show based on educating himself.

as green and brown.• Louisa lives in a rural area, close to
the sea and near farms.
