Dara Petković Republika Srpska Institute of statistics dara.petkovic@rzs.rs.ba - Time frame is period 1990 – 2013 - It examines the demographic changes of population trends in Republika Srpska and in the Balkan region - The paper analyzes births, mortality and natural increase INTRODUCTION METHOD - Method of analysis and synthesis - Comparative method - Statistical method - Classification method - Historical, etc. RESULTS Montenegro FYR Macedonia Albania Bulgaria Serbia Romania Greece Slovenia Croatia BiH Republika Srpska Federation BiH - The highest decrease in the number of live births was recorded in Albania, BiH, Romania and in Kosovo and Metohija - The lowest decrease in the number of live births in 2013, compared to 1990, was recorded in Slovenia and Greece - BiH recorded a decrease in the number of live births - The Federation of BiH recorded a higher decrease in the number of live births than Republika Srpska - The highest increase in the number of deaths was recorded in Montenegro, Serbia, FYR Macedonia, BiH and Greece - Countries in which a decrease in the number of deaths was recorded are Kosovo and Metohija, Croatia, Bulgaria and Romania - BiH recorded an increase in the number of deaths - Republika Srpska recorded a higher increase than the Federation of BiH - Demographic trends in the Balkan countries were uneven - We can expect a noticeable improvement of the demographic situation in the Balkan region in the near future without strong measures CONCLUSION REFERENCES WHAT CAN BE DONE? - Systematic measures of population policy could slow down the adverse trends, which would create conditions for a gradual demographic recovery of the region - REGIONAL DIFFERENCES IN DEMOGRAPHIC CHANGES IN REPUBLIKA SRPSKA AND BALKAN COUNTRIES 1.
