“Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you as the 2013-2014 APhA-ASP National Executive Committee. We were able to meet quite a few of you in Los Angeles and enjoyed doing so. We look forward to working with all of you in the year to come. Next week, we will meet for the first time as a committee at APhA Headquarters in Washington, DC for our initial business meeting of our term in office. During this meeting, we will review the many successes of 2012-2013 and set our goals and objectives for the upcoming year. We will also participate in the APhA Academies Leadership Meeting (ALM) along with members of the APhA-ASP Communications, Education, IPSF, and Policy Standing Committees. During the ALM, we will join Academy leaders from APhA-APPM and APhA-APRS to set common goals for all three of APhA’s Academies.
APhA2013 a Success! In March, nearly 6,000 student pharmacists and pharmacists attended the APhA2013 Annual Meeting & Exposition in LA! Thank you to all attendees for their commitment to professional development by attending APhA2013. Congratulations to all 2013 Award Winners! Greetings APhA-ASP Region 2!
It is my pleasure to provide you with the “Report of the House of Delegates” by Athena Hobbs, our former Speaker of the House. In the report, you will find information on the two resolutions that passed regarding the expansion of immunization privileges for pharmacists and student pharmacists, and the development of an effective and financially viable care transitions model. In addition, the APhA-ASP Resolutions Committee referred several previously passed resolutions back to the APhA-ASP Policy Standing Committee to consider and act upon as part of its charge. These include such pressing items as compounding, pharmacists as providers, and the expansion and development of post-graduate training programs.
It is difficult to believe that so much time has already passed since annual meeting. As the excitement from that period fades, the fond memories of the experience and remembered faces of those I’ve met never fails to put a smile on my face. As your individual chapters complete their transitions, I look forward to many fruitful discussions and unified moments to further the profession of pharmacy. Thank you all for being such great advocates!
