reflection on research

From researching past students music videos I have learnt that they are a lot more effective when they have a narrative as this keeps their audience interested. Another thing I learnt was that a variety of camera angles and shots keeps the video flowing and is really effective if it changes with the beat of the music, however, this would be very had with the song that I have chosen because it is a drum and bass genre music and therefore scenes would have to be extremely fast to keep up with the rapid pace of the music. I have come up with a narrative for my video; however, it is hidden, which is conventional for a drum and bass video. There is a story line which is quite clear however the meaning is not. The meaning of the video is, ‘If you treat teenagers as a lower class, a vulnerability, antisocial trouble makers then they will act this way”. From audience feedback I learnt that most people agree with me in tat a narrative keeps it interesting and so does a variety of camera angles and shots. I noticed with magazine adverts that the image used was conventionally the album cover photograph. This makes the audience automatically notice who the artist is. There is minimal writing on the advert and the date when it is released is usually in Reflection on December 2013 Research Media A2 Coursework

From researching past students music videos I have learnt that they are a lot more effective when they have a narrative as this keeps their audience interested. Another thing I learnt was that a variety of

camera angles and shots keeps the video flowing and is really effective if it changes with the beat of the music, however, this would be very had with the song that I have chosen because it is a drum and bass genre music and therefore scenes would have to be extremely fast to keep up with the rapid pace of the music. I have come up with a narrative for my video; however, it is hidden, which is conventional for a drum and bass video. There is a story line which is quite clear however the meaning is not. The meaning of the video is, ‘If you

treat teenagers as a lower class, a vulnerability, antisocial trouble makers then they will act this way”. From audience feedback I learnt that most people agree with me in tat a narrative keeps it interesting and so does a variety of camera angles and shots.

I noticed with magazine adverts that the image used was conventionally the album cover photograph. This makes the audience automatically notice who the artist is. There is minimal writing on the advert and the date when it is released is usually in the biggest font. Drum and bass covers are conventionally very colourful and use distorted/abstract images. I have taken this on board

and aim to stick with in the conventions of the music adverts and drum and bass album covers.

Digipaks usually have a theme throughout the pack and include a number of photos of the artists. There is conventionally a booklet within the digipak which includes facts about the artist/band and has lyrics in the booklet too.
