Overall Reflection on Research

Page 2: Reflection on research

The most common shot types the videos contained where long shots (usually to establish the scene) and close ups (to show and represent the artist).

The costume used usually reflects the mood and atmosphere of the song, or aims to try and sell the artist.

The editing of the video depends on the pace of the song.

Music videos can be in black and white or colour, or a mix of the two, they are not bound or limited by these saturation requirements.

Music Video Summary

Page 3: Reflection on research

I will include a lot of close-ups of my models to give them representation and will use long shots to establish scenes and settings as well as other elements that may need establishing.

I will use costumes that try and reflect the mood and genre of the narrative of both the song I select and music video I produce.

The pace of my edit will again depend on the song I select. If I chose a slow song, I’ll make a slow video, if I chose a fast song then I will edit a faster video.

I will experiment with black and white as well as colour during editing to see which one works more effective as both can be used in a music video.

Digipacks are usually a six-panel housing case for the album in question, and sometimes come with a booklet.

The cover can be an image of the artist, or something relating to one of the songs on the cd or even the groups emblem or symbol (if they have one).

The other panels are usually photos of the artist, all though they don’t have to be. One of the panels also gives the name of song titles as well as some copyright information.

Digipack Summary

Page 5: Reflection on research

I will produce a six panel digipack, with one of these booklets to aim for a more realistic digipack.

My cover will be something that reflects one of the songs on the album as I personally feel this will allow for a more emotional, effective and atmospheric digipack that could further allow for cross promotion.

The other panels on my digipack will be photos of the models as well as the back panel containing the usual song information and copyright notes to try and make a more realistic and professional looking digipack.

The photo the advert uses is usually the album artwork. However it doesn’t have to be, but they all have a photo of what the album looks like on the front.

They always give information of formats they are available in.

They usually give a release date, or state that the album has already been released.

They usually have the record label logo as well shop sponsor logos.

Sometimes there is a review line saying how good the album is or a line about certain songs. These act as plugs for more buyers.

Advert Summary

Page 7: Reflection on research

My advert will use the album cover. This will make it more realistic looking as an advert. It will also make it more audience-friendly as it quickly shows them what the album looks like and then they know what they are looking for.

My album will be available as a CD and download, so my advert will state this.

My advert will include both the record label logo and shop sponsor logos to try and make my advert appear more realistic looking and more professional.

My advert will state it is already available so that it looks like a more professional advert.

There will be a review or plug again for the same reasons as above.

My audience most commonly watch videos on the internet, meaning my music video will need to be in a format suitable for web sharing so that it reaches a wider demographic of my audience.

My audience tend to prefer music videos that contain more than one location, for my video I shall aim for four locations so that I meet this criteria making it more suitable for my audience.

Most of my audience would prefer a location music video, so I will produce a location video so that it suits my audience in a more effective way.
