REFERENCES EDITOR GUIDELINES

Start 1. Go to www.myjurnal.my 2. Browse journal title. 3. Click on the title of any journal. 4. Login with your own ID and password. 5. Click References Editor. 6. Select the journal assigned to you. 7. Select the volume and issue.

Editing References 8. First of all, make sure the total articles appear in the list of references are same with total

articles in original references.

9. If total articles in list of references more than original references, please delete the duplicate reference(s).

AUTHORS 11. Author box : can be person (Ahmad, A., Jason Smith) or organization (MARDI, World Bank).

Authors with initials should have comma after the author’s name and dot after each initial. For eg : Akram DS should be Akram, D.S.


IAEA Safety Standard is not an author

Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority is an author 12. No author given, leave it blank.


13. Remove et al.

14. Remove ‘and’ and symbol ‘&’ in the author field.

i. Replace with comma (,) for initial author.

Fletcher, B.S., Watson, C.A.

Eisemann, C.H., Rice, M.J.


ii. Replace with semicolon (;) for authors with full spelling.


15. Remove all spaces between initials.

Eg : Zainab, A. N. remove space between A. and N., so it should be : Zainab, A.N.

16. Invert author names (with initials only).

Wigglesworth, V.B. (No space between V. and B.)

Dethier, V.G., Larsen, J.R., Adams, J.R.

Lewis, C.T. (No space between C. and T.)


17. Do not invert author’s name with full spelling.

Author with initials : • Separate each author with comma (,)

Eg : Tan, A.B., Lee, W.H. • No space after dot, space after comma

No space after dot


Author with full spelling : • Separate each author with semicolon (;)

Eg : Amir Hakim; Yue Wan (Do not put dot at the end) • No space after the author’s name, space after semicolon

Leave Author box blank, put in Others box.

ARTICLE 21. References without article’s title.

22. (Abstract), (Editorial) – Delete.

Do not delete the reference

If you want to add in the word (Abstract), please put it in Others.


23. Do not put dot at the end of the title in the article’s column.

24. Title of Report / Tajuk Laporan / Tajuk Kertas Kerja.


25. Title of paper presented during Seminar/Workshop/Symposium/Conference.


26. Title of article in Conference Proceedings / Newspaper / Magazine.

JOURNAL 27. Put JOURNALS / BULLETIN ONLY

If you are not sure if it is a journal or not, you may google it and see if it’s in any journal’s publisher website, or if it has ISSN number.

If there’s no journal, leave the box empty. Do not put dash (-)


28. Edit journal’s name. Due to OCR problem in the article’s pdf during manual article uploading, there may be some

data reading error. Please correct the journal’s name if you see any.


VOLUME 29. Remove the word Vol. / Volume

30. Volume Format

Eg : Vol. 13, 3 13(3)

Eg : Journal Asian Social Science, 4, 3, 78-88 4(3)

YEAR 32. If there’s no year in original reference, put NONE (all capital letters). Do not leave the year

box empty.


33. Make sure the year has 4 digit / NONE only. Please delete a / b / c or other non-related characters in the year column.

If the year state:-

a. 2010-2011 : put 2010 b. 1989, 1990 : put 1989 Take the first one


Special case :


BOOKS & CHAPTERS IN BOOK 34. Put Title of Books / Handbooks / Catalogs / Magazine in Books column.

35. If you are not sure if it is a book or not, please google the title.

If you see amazon or books.google, or any other sites which mention ISBN number of the title, you may put the title in Books. 36. Title of Book includes Edition.

43. Double quotes (curly) “ ” -> replace with Typewriter double quotes " "


44. Single quotes (curly) ‘ ’ -> replace with Typewriter single quotes ' '


45. Alphabets.
