Kicevo-Ohrid twin tube motorway tunnel Macedonia
In four years’ time traveling to Ohrid, Macedonia will be a true pleasure. The construction of the highway from Kicevo to Ohrid is well underway. Construction workers, communicating in Macedonian, English and Chinese could be seen at the site, as well as a huge mechanization. The highway is being built by Chinese company Sinohydro Corporation Limited. The 2 km twin tube Preseka tunnel is part of the 57 km long highway project. Investment for this major project is estimated at around EUR 375 million, the highest infra-structural investments in the past 50 years in Macedonia.
Looking for a solution to reinforce the weak rock formations the tunnel is passing through, Chinese from Synohydro chose Häny to supply a grout plant for self-drilling anchor injection application.
