CLASSES Due to an increase in numbers and our commitment to small classes we are going to have three classes of Year 3/4 next year. This means they will move into the new building, in the spare double classroom and in the current LOTE room. They will still operate as a team teaching group, with 3 teachers / classes of 18 and greater space.

We would also like to welcome our new Performing Arts teacher Jason Day.

STAFF CHANGES Lydia Lalmalsawmkim is taking up a position in the Northern Territory. She and her husband have always wanted to give back to an indigenous community and we wish them well in the endeavours at ‘Borroloola School’. Felicity Cameron has decided to take leave from Croydon PS for 2019 and we wish her well in her future pursuits. In other exciting news Lara O'Sullivan is expecting her second child in May next year. We will still have Lara supporting EAL students for Term 1.

Congratulations Bethaney Young Over the holidays Bethaney will marry her fiancé Greg. We wish them well for this special day and hope they enjoy their honeymoon in New Zealand. We will be looking forward to hearing all about it on her return!

The configuration of the buildings is as follows, and we hope to have help with the

move next Wednesday.

MARGARET - SCHOOL CROSSING Friday December 21st sees the end of an incredible 30 years keeping the students safe on the roundabout crossing for Margaret Bodsworth. Words cannot express the dedication Margaret has shown to our students and the first day back in 2019 will not seem the same with out her. We wish her well in retirement, many sleep ins and warm days out of the cold! Thank you Margaret! PARENT HELPER MORNING TEA Thank you so much to everyone that has helped and supported the school this year. We would not be the wonderful community that we are without you. To thank all of our volunteers, we are having a morning tea on Wednesday 19th at 10.40am. Invitations have gone out, hopefully we have caught everyone.

Change of venue – Staffroom CURRICULUM DAYS January 29th - The staff will be involved with the Maroondah network working on Positive Education. January 30th – All staff will be preparing for their classes and involved in Professional Development at school. Year 1 – 6 students start on Thursday 31st January Preps – Friday 1st February

BOOK PACKS Please pick up your book packs on Wednesday 30th January from the main office. We have implemented a payment plan to make the beginning of the year less of a burden. EXCESS FURNITURE We have the very large desk, hutch from the office, and many student tables and chairs in excess of our needs. If you think you can use any of these items please come and see us at the office. MARINE TANK Over the last few weeks our marine reef tank has slowly taken shape. It needs to create the environment over time hence the slow introduction of many creatures. All the coral are growing well and the clown fish are extremely entertaining. We have added a sand shifting star fish. Who though we don't often see him, is cleaning the sand very efficiently. Two Turbo snails and two Nassarin snails are also cleaning the sand and glass. However we learnt that if the large turbo snail tips over he can't right himself and needs help! Next year a number of new additions are on the cards so keep looking.

CAROLS NIGHT Please all come along on Monday night at 6.00pm to see all the classes perform their Christmas songs. The rehearsals have sounded wonderful.

SWIMMING I was lucky enough to be able to drop in on swimming and see the wonderful progress everyone is making. To be able to offer this from P - 6 ensures a continued development of skills across the year levels. Keeping all of our children safe around water is paramount and providing healthy exercise is a terrific by product.

COLA When you return in 2019 the back two basketball courts will be covered and protected from sun and rain. The asphalt upgrade will then happen early in 2019. YEAR 6 GRADUATION Thank you to all of our graduating class of 2018. They have contributed greatly to our school fabric, whether they have been here since Prep or just joined us this year. From our ground breaking all female leadership group, to wonderful sporting achievements and outstanding academic results, they have been a group to remember. We will miss you, come back and visit and enjoy Graduation next week. HAPPY AND SAFE BREAK I wish all of our Croydon community a happy Christmas, a joyous family time and a safe, relaxing break before we return in 2019. Kind regards,

Julie Gilbert

Christmas Donations & Raffle Tickets!!

Yes, its that time of year again… organising the Christmas Stall and our famous Christmas Raffle!! Hand your raffle tickets to the office and good luck! If you would like to help out, we need bags of lollies for the lolly jars. Please remember for health reasons - i.e. we don’t want any one to be sick at Christmas – all the lollies must be in wrappers or sealed bags. We would also welcome donations of small toys or sealed tins of biscuits, books, toilet-

ries and any inexpensive items you think would be suitable. As dads are notoriously hard

to buy for, any good “dad stuff” would be most welcome!! Thanks everyone, hoping you

can help make this our best year yet!!
