This conference includes several industry professionals’ opinions and views on the music industry as a whole. Attendees will get a glimpse of many aspects of the industry such as artist management and music publishing.

PanelistsChris McKeeChris Mckee is a booking agent who in recent years has put together concert tours across Canada for international artists including: Rihanna, Flo-Rida, The Roots, Black Eyed Peas, Busta Rhymes & dozens more. Chris has also toured most of Canada’s top Urban acts including: Classified, Danny Fernandes, Karl Wolf, Shawn Desman, and many more.

Trinity ChrisTrinity Chris is a Toronto based, JUNO nominated reggae singer, who is also making strides in the EDM world having been featured on some of the year’s biggest drum & bass and dubstep tracks.

Music& FilmMusic & Film 12:15pm-1:15pmMusic & Film will feature panellists that have worked in the music business as well as film. Topics will include how the film and music industry overlap, how film and music are matched in the syn-chronization process, and what it takes to get your music in films, commercials, and in music videos. This a great panel if you want to learn about another revenue stream in the music business or if you are curious about how film and music work together to play a part in our everyday lives.

PanelistsCatherine JonesCatherine Jones, Director, CTV Music for BellMedia, is a 20-year veteran of the music industry with a focus on music rights and licensing.

Dondrea ErauwDondrea began in Toronto learning the ins and outs of Music Publishing (Casablanca Media Publishing) and has now landed her dream job within music supervision at Instinct entertainment.

Ralph SinghRalph Singh is the Manager of Film & Television Music Placement for Universal Music Canada. Ralph looks after all aspects of syn-chronization clearances, including pitching, obtaining approvals and preparing contractual agreements. A big believer in Canadian music, Ralph supports indie music and does his best to pitch their music first to all music supervisors. Ralph has worked with such projects as Being Erica, Entourage, Californication, Hockey Night In Canada, Lost Girl, Mr. D, Grey’s Anatomy, & Ice Pilots to name a few.

life on the roadLife on the road 1:30pm-2:30pmThe Tour Life panel will give you an insight on the tour aspect of the music industry. This panel will discuss various topics such as: how to book a tour, tour stories and a play-by-play of a typical day on the road or at a show.

PanelistsMilenko VujosevicMilenko Vujosevic is an independent artist and long proponent of the “earn it yourself ” approach, having self booked, produced and financed several North American tours with his former band Lacerda. More recently Milenko has started a new project called Bosa.

Pat MurphyPat Murphy brings over 10+ years of experience in many facets of the music industry to the table. Starting in highschool promoting shows for the likes of City and Colour, Death From Above 1979, & Paramore, as well as booking for one of Canada’s largest independent festivals S.C.E.N.E. Music Festival.

Joel BaskinSince founding The Pilot Agency in 2006, Joel Baskin has developed a reputation as an honest and relentlessly proactive advocate for his artists. His primary concern – both then, and since joining SL Feldman and Associates in February 2011 – is providing clients with personal attention and the tools to help them reach their goals by continuously adapting his services to meet their evolving needs.

Jessica LemmonGrowing up out west in Edmonton, Jess craved the thrill of live music. She ambitiously moved to Toronto in order to turn her passion into a career. Once there, Jess did anything and everything to break herself into the music industry. Jess found work touring with artists like Our Lady Peace, Matthew Good, and Kathleen Edwards. She found a drive for event coordination and production management working events across North America for high profile concerts including Rihanna’s 777 tour, Lady Gaga at the ACC, and Swedish House Mafia at the Skydome and Madison Square Gardens.

Digital EraDigital Era 3:00pm-4:00pmThe purposes of this seminar to discuss the effect of these astronomical changes on both record labels and artists as well as the industry as a whole. The panelists here today will shed some light on how they have come to cope with these changes and survive in this fast pace business.

PanelistsIan StangerCo-founder of Black Box Music, Ian Stanger has been immersed in the Canadian music community since the age of 17. In 2007, the label extended its operations to include artist management services, which has helped to guide the careers of artists like Classified, Crash Parallel, Teenage Kicks, Kayo and more.

Dan HandDan got his start in the industry as an intern for independent record la-bel Underground Operations while at Durham College’s Music Business Management program. In 2011, Universal Music Canada decided to expand it’s A&R roster and hired Dan as an A&R rep. In February 2012, he left UMC to focus on artist management & is currently the GM for Underground Operations, and artist manager of Toronto hardcore act Abandon All Ships.

Eric AlperI’m CTV’s music correspondent, and also been named to Billboard Magazine, Paste Magazine and The National Post best on social media. During the day, I’m the Director of Media Relations and Label Acquisitions for eOne Music Canada, handling the PR for such artists as Bob Geldof, Randy Bachman, Ringo Starr, Slash, Snoop Dogg, The Smashing Pumpkins, and many more over 20 years in the music industry.

Mitch MastersMitch Masters is the A&R director of Track Avenue Music and the day-to-day manager for BRENDN. His education includes a background in marketing and studied Music Industry Arts at Fanshawe College.

Demo derbyDemo Derby 5:00pm-7:00pmThe Demo Derby allows local talent to submit their unique artistic compositions to be judged by industry professionals. They will listen to and observe one-minute clips submitted by artists to be assessed based on the criteria provided. After the evaluation forms are completed, they give verbal feedback to the artists.

JudgesJames LindermanJames Linderman teaches guitar, piano and music theory and coaches songwriting, in studio and over Skype to students from all over the world from Newmarket, Ontario. He is a member of an international, off campus, academic advisory board for The Berklee School of Music in Boston known as Berklee Music Ambassadors and is Berklee’s Worship Music Advisor.
