INTRODUCTION
A label is a piece of paper affixed to a container or product, on
which, is printed information about the product. Information printed
directly on a container or article can also be considered labeling.
Function of labels.
Types of labels.

OUR CONCEPTIn order to reduce a liner, we came up with an concept of 1+2 labels, meaningThere by , one liner and two face material on either side of the label.
![Page 6: reducing liner waste in SA labels](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022062522/5877a8b61a28ab826e8b67f5/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
6
The significance of our label structure is:
1. To reduce liner substrate.
2. To increase productivity.
3. Time saving factor at the time of application.
4. Reduction in landfill.
5. Reduction in incineration.
6. Reduction in transportation.

PROBLEM FACED DURING DIE CUTTING
1. The die cutting was offline die process, that is, flat bed. 2. There was vibration during whole process on machine.3. There was uneven pressure.4. Blade was not precisely made because of which liner was getting
ruptured in certain area.5. Same job size can’t be printed on both side as it would create
problem while punching
![Page 13: reducing liner waste in SA labels](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022062522/5877a8b61a28ab826e8b67f5/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
13
SOLUTION
1. The die cutting process can be made inline if the die punch is precisely made
2. The die height needs to be reworked as the structure changes3. Matrix waste should be removed after die punching on both
side or else there would be uneven pressure on other side4. Different job size has to be printed on both side or slightly
misalign the job on other side.

CONCLUSION1. The idea of reducing the liner waste in label industry was
achieved by 50%. 2. The liner which is manufactured should be super
calendared on both the sides in order to get good release value.
3. Also the machine should be configured to achieve both side silicone coating as well as lamination of facestock.
4. The die height should be reworked in order to achieve proper die cut.
5. Matrix waste should be removed after die puching on both side.
