Spazio Teatro: let’s draw the conclusions
Spazio Teatro.
Spazio Teatro. I luoghi della scena, agree-ment born between the Architecture Faculty of the University of Catania, the Fondazione Teatro Vittorio Emanuele di Noto and the Con-sorzio Universitario Archimede, made possible in three years (2008-2011) the promotion of the studies, of investigations, of didactic and education activities in the theatre area, and, more in general, of the performing arts with a real and application experimentation. It is an experimentation truly unique for the un-disclosed aim of carrying investigations and of elaborating projects in the redevelopment area and in the field of the use of theatre; where the theatre is considered as an instru-ment of recovery of those urban spaces with great cultural importance or of those “weak” districts.
The urban scene has been re-considered as a theatre space, going backwards to see the evolution of the idea of the scenic space, going back to the exteriors of the theatre building, to the places of the representation, to the architecture as stage. Starting from the real city is due to the will of going far from the cultural habits of the tradition, applying

Siracusa, aprile 2012
For all that I thank, as scientific responsi-ble for the Architecture Faculty of Siracusa: the Fondazione Teatro Vittorio Emanuele di Noto and his artistic manager Corrado Russo, for the clever and innovative wave of ideas on which was based the work of these years and for the performing opportunities which the students took part in; The Faculty of the Architecture who supported the integra-tion in the didactic framework of the course Spazio Teatro, as training activities and many teachers1 who took part in the lessons; the Archimedes University Society for the strong support; the students of the course more or less 100 in three years, for the deep-rooted passion for the theatre art; the experts, the operators, the critics and the artists of great importance2 guests alternated in our class-rooms and in the Sala Dante of the theatre of Noto in these years.
The convention has been renewed for an-other two years; the challenge 2011-2012, now in progress and concerning 50 students, goes from the multimedia technologies area to the use of light applied to the contempo-rary performance, putting in scene, in may 2012, in three important buildings in the his-toric centre of Noto, a show based on vide-omapping techniques, under the guide of Luca Ruzza: “Hortus Mirabilis. Lucigraphies for Noto”.
For the 2013 ... the show hasn’t begun yet!

The topic of recycling and reusing, a pre-sent topic, is a tireless attempt of recovering an economic and political delay. It’s, there-fore, a basic concept for all the culture in the wide range in which it should be involved and engaged. It’s a range that goes from a new thought and unusual methodologies to poetics able to jump towards different directions.
For too long, the scientific and rational at-titude towards the so many achieved goals, and the ones to achieve, has put aside (meth-odological speaking) what is poetry and feel-ings, due to the fact that they are out of con-trol. The poetics of reusing, consequently, is that vision that goes beyond the complicat-ed result stuck in the reasonableness and the certain and expected effect. It is necessary to throw the heart and the idea that comes up from the barriers of what we know and of what is certain, because it is verified (or bet-ter “old”).
As far as feelings are concerned we may experiment how the unsuccessful, the un-expected negativity, the error can take the wings to fly when we succeed in going over

The concept of recycling in urban fieldDealing with the recycling topic to detect
the operating possibilities in the urban field outlines a speculative sector, that is connect-ed to the wider field of the urban recovery, to investigate specific aspects and check the existence of possible conceptual differences.
At a first consideration, in fact, the two sectors, recycle and recovery in urban scale, could look similar and almost stackable, then catching the meaning of the words repre-sents one of the first way of going into the problem. To remember means, in general, to use again something, an object or the mate-rial of which it is made, and to re-introduce it in a production cycle. The urban recovery has as object of interest parts of the city that through specific planning actions of knowl-edge and interpretations propose and check how much it is possible to apply strategies thought to build again connections be-tween the part and the whole and to create characters of complex engaged urbanism. A complex action during which the elements

Dealing with the recycling topic, the thought quickly goes towards those objects that otherwise would go to those places of wastes’ accumulation and dispatching; objects that today are very common in the market and in the publicizing of the design sector, made by secondary materials or by materials re-employed for uses far from their primigenial functionality.
The approach to this aspect of the prod-uct design is called ecodesign because of the specificity of planning daily use objects, objects that have to be mass-produced and that have to be compared, and they assume a series of considerations strictly connected to the environmental topics.
Nonetheless, if “every planning action can’t be regardless of those qualitative assess-ments that focus on the wealth concept, we can state that the sustainable design doesn’t exist because of the fact that a learned, intelli-gent planning, aimed to increase the qualities of life through projects of structural and cul-tural transformation/innovation of our global society, produces artefacts that are sustain-able themselves. A design oriented product is

“[...] when the theatre practice becomes a mass of different art forms; Literature and Gods and Heroes of the History with Capital H change into hooks, into amplifiers of the contemporary epic. This dowsing activity to discover heroic wastes in our daily experiences is the procedure. Conceiving a show inspired by a literary masterpiece means to think about the weight that the communicating stream between us and the mythic distance generates. [...] In the deconstruction of any steadying element, the classic apparatus is trimmed down leaving clear the voice of the effort that we make today. In a similar recycling, the postmodern aesthetics seal, we can tell the fierceness of our personal fight against the Mills, white mills and not windmills”.

thanks to the RE particle, point out the rep-etition of an action that, in the artistic pro-duction, and in particular in theatre, refers to a new use, a new role in a cycle, a trans-formation that more and more often doesn’t allow anymore to grasp the meaning of the

Focus1 on Art and Science in the Performing Arts
The aspect that marks Performing Arts in comparison with the languages of visual arts stands in the fact that they are tied to a perceptive dimension of space and time that cannot be repeated in a perfect way, never: the unchangeable uniqueness of every mo-ment of their manifestation, which is inevi-tably temporary and ephemeral, and, in the spectator, often it doesn't justice to the com-plicated net of references, of second thoughts and of passing through; this net stands on the other side of that lapse in which the piece shows itself in the space chosen every time. The project Focus has been conceived, among the many reasons (even of economic nature, aimed to support a circuit of the Re-search in Europe), mainly to create room for a close examination and debate around the practices that govern the work of planning stage and of experimentation in the contem-porary scene. The whole title underlines the relationships "between art and science in the performing arts".The topic gives an element of appeal for those groups and artists who
