Life is unpredictable. We are, at times faced with impacts and challenges that we don’t expect or prepare for. I have a theory that these moments of impact, these flashes of high intensity that completely turn our lives upside down eventually become the making of us. How we act during these moments of emotional explosion define who we are. The thing is, each one of us is the sum total of every moment that we’ve ever experience with all the people we’ve ever known. And it’s these moments that become our history. Like our own personal greatest hits of memories that we play and replay in our minds over and over again. It is our responsibility to make those hits memorable and never give up on dreaming, no matter how extreme that initial collision of emotions may have been. If you have ever witnessed that moment where it literally feels as though someone has just pulled the rug from beneath your feet, your lay face flat on the floor and don’t know which way is up; you will relate to that overwhelming feeling of isolation and fear of the unknown. You no longer feel connected to the world as you remember and can’t find where you fit in this crazy jigsaw. The easiest thing to do in these moments of change is to give up, and hide under your covers in hopes that it’s all a bad dream and you’ll eventually wake up. This is acceptable behaviour for a short time, while you try to get away from the shock of your situation... BUT eventually you need to start taking steps towards rebuilding your future...

Introduction

Page 5: Rediscovering the Universe

Consider this journal as your bridge to re-connecting to the universe, an aid to regain self inspiration, motivation to move forward and see the world in a new, brighter light. Even if you haven’t felt bereaved and just want a creative task to dig your teeth into. Take full advantage of the enjoyment that can be found by looking closer at the little things in life which will hopefully encourage you to pursue the more extravagant things you wish to achieve when you want to achieve them. I recently took a leap out of my comfort zone and into a pair of size 5 snowboard boots. I desperately sought something irrationally new. The way I chose to cope with a difficult break up was to educate myself in something completely new and fully focusing on my new hobby. During the initial 6 hour lesson I met two others who had recently gone through an emotional breakdown and as a result of that, wanted to learn to snowboard and take a risk by doing something they always wanted to. This made my wonder - “why”? Why does it take this impact to encourage us to pursue new things, or things we have always dreamed of doing? This journal should remind you to think optimistically and create positive energy for yourselves and others around you. Maybe by educating your self in this way of thinking, you will adapt the mindset to complete as much as your life’s ‘bucket list’ as possible – without waiting for a reason to do it.

(strawberry laces are always a win)

Spend a week collecting scraps of discarded paper.

The easiest thing to find is scrap paper. Alone it looks like rubbish, spend a week collecting little bits every where you go. At the end of the week make a collage of all of your findings.

Now more than ever, people are spending more time communicating through technologies and spending less time enjoying the outside world and seeking enjoyment through natural inspirations. This book was created to give you the chance to step back from the ‘hussle and bussle’ of every day life and re-connect with yourself. Take this breaker page to think about how much you have achieved in the last 2 years, and what you hope to achieve in the next 2 years. Think about your ultimate goals in life and what you want to do before you kick the bucket...
