Psalms 25:5 “Lead me to thy truth, and teach me: for thou are the God of my salvation, on thee do I wait all day”. V. 9 “For evildoers shall be cut off; but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth”.

Psalms 40:1 “I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined unto me, and heard my cry”.

Psalms 62:1 Truly my soul waits upon God; from Him cometh my salvation

Psalms 37:4 (NLT) “Don’t be impatient for the Lord to act! Keep traveling steadily along His path and in due season He will honor you with every blessing”

Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint”.

So what does it mean to wait?The Hebrew word for wait is Qavah

• To bind together – The making of a rope

• Entrenched – the idea of digging ourselves into God

• To look patiently – picture the Prodigal sons father

• Hope, expect, look eagerly – TRUST

Qualities one waiting on God must have

• Patience:

• Listening:

• Acceptance:

• Humility:

• Courage:

• Trust:

Setting aside our own agenda and letting God work

For further instructions (direction & timing)

Of His direction

Placing His will above mine

Disregarding negative peer pressure

Do you trust Him enough not to "follow your gut instincts"

Why do we have to wait on God?

• Arranging Circumstances

• Purify our motives (v.11-12)

• Teach us to rely on Him

• Protection from unseen dangers

• Preparing us to impact others

What happens when we don’t wait?

• We experience disappointment

• We step outside of Gods Will

• We miss out on the best that He has for us

• We feel the pain (hurt, pressure, suffering)
