• In 2011, the police superintendent supported the red light camera program claiming that the number of pedestrian fatalities in Chicago was far greater than those in New York.

• This statement contradicted previous reports from the City of Chicago which showed the pedestrian fatality rate was much lower in Chicago than New York and other large cities.
