WE are UA Uniquely UA!

UA Spotlight—Upper School

UA Spotling—Lower Campus

Erin Elliott, Middle School Social Studies Teacher

Ms. Elliott graduated from UNC Charlotte. Ms. Elliott was born and raised in Union Coun-

ty and graduated from Sun Valley. She taught at Weddington Middle for the last 13 years.

Ms. Elliot states Mr. Faulkner, a UA teacher, whom taught Ms. Elliot while at Sun Valley,

definitely had a huge impact on her and her decision to teach. She credits his energy and

passion for history makes him a wonderful role model.

Ms. Elliot lives in Waxhaw with her children Cora (7th grader) and Hayden (6th grader), but will be mov-

ing to Wesley Chapel in two weeks! Rosie, a four year old Aussie-doodle rounds out the family. Ms. Elliot

loves to camp and hike, so it’s no big surprise her favorite vacation spot is Asheville! She enjoys shopping,

and her favorite color is pink. She enjoys Mexican and Indian food.

Welcome, Ms. Elliott!

Amanda Watkins, 3rd grade Lower School Assistant

Before coming to Union Academy, Mrs. Watkins worked at St. Margaret’s Preschool.

Mrs. Watkins loves being a part of the UA family and she’s so proud of all that the

school stands for.

Mrs. Watkins and her husband Michael live in Waxhaw with their children Lauren (8th

grade), Leah Kate (6th grade) and Addison (1st grade). She loves to garden and enjoys baking and deco-

rating. Her favorite food is Italian and enjoys a meal out at Rippington’s. Mrs. Watkins graduated from

Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA which probably explains why her favorite team to cheer for is the

Pittsburg Steelers! When not at UA Mrs. Watkins loves to travel, but can’t pick a favorite spot as she enjoy

something about every place she goes! A fun fact about Mrs. Watkins is that she was able to sing at the St.

Patrick's Cathedral in NYC!

Welcome, Mrs. Watkins!

~ Don’t Forget to Order Scrip Cards ~ What is the scrip gift card program?

The gift card program offers over 100 gift cards to sell to you at face value. The school purchases the gift cards through a vendor at a dis-counted percentage and receives a profit. (Example: You buy a $25 Bath & Body Works gift card from Union Academy, the school pur-chases it for 14% less, which is $21.50, the profit of $3.50 goes to UA). We made over $6,000 in profit one school year with only 30% of the families/staff participating! This profit goes towards various activi-ties and supplies here at UA.
