Put the following waste at your waste collection

Burnable waste●Use Handa City’s YELLOW plastic bags for burnable waste.●Drain off water from food scraps.●Leaf and yard waste of branches less than 5 cm in diameter and 60 cm in length can be put out as burnable waste. Use City’s YELLOW plastic bags for such yard waste. For large loads of yard waste, take them to Handa City Clean Center. Do not place them in your regular waste collection station.

●Use transparent or semi-transparent plastic bags for unburnable waste.

●Items from 30 cm to 60 cm in length, such as vacuum cleaners, radios and CD players, can be placed in your waste collection station without putting them into plastic bags.

●Make sure that sharp objects such as knives, needles and blades of tools are securely packaged or be placed into containers to avoid injuries.

●Branches from 5 cm to 20 cm in diameter must be cut within 1 m in length, and be tied and bundled. Branches and tree cuttings over 20 cm in diameter are NOT acceptable. Large loads of yard waste must be taken to Handa City Clean Center. Do not place them in waste collection stations.

●Large loads of household waste resulting, for example, from move or house cleaning, should be brought to the Center with prior arrangement by phone. Large loads of residential leaf and yard waste should also be taken to the Center on WEEKDAYS.

●Residents are requested to take measures to prevent such leaf waste be scattered.

●Tatami mats must be cut into 6 equal pieces and be brought to the Center by residents on weekdays.

●Used Tatami mats removed by business operators, such as Tatami interior stores, are NOT accepted. Such Tatami mats are considered commercial waste and must be disposed of by that operator.

●Handa businesses may dispose, at the Center, of paper waste, food scraps, and yard waste generated in the course of their business activities in the City of Handa. Charges of 150 yen per 10 kg apply for such commercial waste. Handa businesses can take their commercial waste to the Center by themselves, or through City’s authorized waste collection companies.

●The Center does NOT accept any industrial, commercial or institutional waste including rubber, scrap metal, concrete, and plastic packaging.

●Items listed below are prohibited from being brought to the Center since the Center does not have efficient facilities to dispose of such materials. For disposal, contact processing facilities or retailers where you purchased the product.

○Items more than 1m in length or width, and more than 2m in height○Car and motorcycle tires, wheels and other components, boats, propane gas cylinders, fireproof safes, pianos, fire extinguishers, batteries, agricultural/industrial machinery, solar/electric water heaters, bath tubs, material resulting from building construction, renovation and demolition※, kerosene, used oil (except for vegetable cooking oil), poison, agrichemical, paint, rocks, earth and sod.

Recovery of home computers and small electrical appliances

Handa residents may bring their home computers and small electrical appliances to the Center for disposal.Weekday open hours: 8:30 -16:00 thru. Monday to Friday12:00 - 16:00 on Saturdays9:00 - 13:30 on Sundays Besides, sensitive information kept in your home computers should properly be erased before disposal at the Center.

Recycling of specifiedkinds of home appliances

Specified kinds of home appliances, (i.e., televisions, air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers, washing machines and cloth dryers) must be recycled based on the Act on Recycling of Specified Kinds of Home Appliances. They cannot be put out in your regular waste collection station. Retailers provide appliance disposal service with the charge of recycling fees.

Use retailers’collection services

Retailers offer appliance collection services for recycling them. You can ask the retailer where you purchase the old appliance to take the old one. Also, you can ask the retailer where you are going to get a new model to take your unwanted one. In whichever case, COLLECTION AND RECYCLING FEES ARE CHARGED. Contact respective retailers for further information.

Handa City authorizes some waste collection companies to collect home appliances covered by the Act from Handa households. If you are uncertain at which retailer you purchased the old appliance, you can use such companies’ services. Although collection fees are charged, they will come to your home to pick up your appliances.

Handa residents can bring their home appliances covered by the law to the designated drop-off site or the Center with prior purchase of “Kaden Recycle Ken” at post offices.

Recovery of home computers and small electrical appliances

Handa residents may bring their home computers and small electrical appliances to the Center for disposal.Weekday open hours: 8:30 -16:00 thru. Monday to Friday12:00 - 16:00 on Saturdays9:00 - 13:30 on Sundays Besides, sensitive information kept in your home computers should properly be erased before disposal at the Center.

Recycling of specifiedkinds of home appliances

Specified kinds of home appliances, (i.e., televisions, air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers, washing machines and cloth dryers) must be recycled based on the Act on Recycling of Specified Kinds of Home Appliances. They cannot be put out in your regular waste collection station. Retailers provide appliance disposal service with the charge of recycling fees.

Use retailers’collection services

Retailers offer appliance collection services for recycling them. You can ask the retailer where you purchase the old appliance to take the old one. Also, you can ask the retailer where you are going to get a new model to take your unwanted one. In whichever case, COLLECTION AND RECYCLING FEES ARE CHARGED. Contact respective retailers for further information.

Handa City authorizes some waste collection companies to collect home appliances covered by the Act from Handa households. If you are uncertain at which retailer you purchased the old appliance, you can use such companies’ services. Although collection fees are charged, they will come to your home to pick up your appliances.

Handa residents can bring their home appliances covered by the law to the designated drop-off site or the Center with prior purchase of “Kaden Recycle Ken” at post offices.
