In Hay 1865 Brig. Gen. John H. Sprague v:ou assigned to duty as Assistant Commissioner for the States of Missouri and Arkansas •. In June of that year he established his ileadqua1·ters at St. louis, Mo. In October Sprague moved his headquarters office to Lit­tle Hock, fti"k., 1<here it l"Ctr.ained until the Bureau's activities ;;ere termi­nated.
