What is a distribution company?A film distributor is responsible for the marketing of a film.

The distribution company is usually different from the production company. Distribution deals are an important part of financing a film. Film distribution is the process of making a movie available for viewing by an audience. ... For commercial projects, film distribution is usually accompanied by film promotion. When a film is initially produced, a feature film is often shown to audiences in a movie theater.The distributor has activities which may be organised on the different markets of the commercial rights of films (theatrical cinemas, video on DVDs, video on the internet, television, international sales). The exhibitor presents the film to the audience while the distributor manages the commercial rights, in accordance with a contract signed with the producer.

Blockbuster Distribution companies

Here are a few of the main Distributing companies that mainly distribute blockbuster films. These Distributing companies are very successful as they are very popular. Films they distribute are; Frozen (disney), Harry Potter (Warner Bros), Pitch perfect (Universal),Skyfall (Columbia), Shrek (Dreamworks)

Independent distribution companies

Here is a few independent distribution companies. They distribute films such as; The theory of everything (Focus Features), Get out (Blumhouse), Chicken Run (Pathe), Ratter (Vertical Entertainment)

Distribution company that would distribute my product•I believe that the distribution companies Vertical entertainment and Blumhouse Productions would distribute my product as they have both distributed Movies (Get out and Ratter) so therefore it would please the same targeted audience when released. I don’t think any Blockbuster distribution company would distribute my product as those companies like to input their own intentions and ideas into the movies.

Evaluation•After researching Distribution companies I have found out lots more about them such as the films each on company has distributed as well as their preference when choosing which movie to distribute.
