Bidder 1 dropped out and bidder 2 was then met with more serious competition, the two then battled to $460,000 until bidder 4 joined in.This is when it really heated up, bidder 2 courageously held on till $477,000 until he had to bow out and leave it up to bidders 3 and 4.It took a mammoth 38 bids to decide a victor and bidder 4 claimed the champagne at $493,000!‘To say the Vendor was extremely pleased is an understatement with a result of $73,000 above reserve’, said Principal Victor Shalala.
