NEWSSuccessful Sales Reflect Promising Outlook for AuctionsThe successful sale at auction during the last couple of weeks has provided a positive outlook for properties for sale through the auction process.Daniel Hastings of MMJ Wollongong says the immediate outlook is especially strong while we are seeing very favourable demand levels relative to supply.Sales conducted by MMJ Residential Sales Department show that 87.5% of auction properties have sold under the hammer in 2013.The trend continued on the weekend for two properties offered by MMJ Wollongong.One of the properties, 5 Dobinson St, Mt Pleasant sold under the hammer for $410,000.There were five registered bidders with three actively participating in the.Interest in the property was keen with 24 inspections prior to the auction and 12 contracts issued prior to auctionTheir other property at 60-66 Kingston St, Oak Flats also sold under the hammer for $830,000.This particular property also attracted five registered bidders, once again with three putting their hands up to bid. There were 19 inspections and five contracts issued prior to the auction.

It was a similar story for Bevans Wollongong’s 11/223 Lawrence Hargrave Drive, Thirroul.The property attracted 30 groups to the open for inspections and seven bidders on the day.A large crowd of around 40 people saw the property sell under the hammer for $486,000Tony Johnson from O’Connor First National said there was a huge amount of interest in his property at 28 Crawford Street, Gwynneville that saw 72 groups attend the open for inspections.There were 16 registered bidders and the property sold under the hammer for $565,000, well above the reserve.Ray White Unanderra reports that 10 Angus Street, Fernhill also attracted a good deal of interest with four registered bidders and a crowd of 25 people however it was passed in at $480,000 after 12 bids.While not selling under the hammer there was still a successful sale for 42 Garden Avenue, Figtree.It was sold by Ray White Thirroul for $640,000.

GOING STRAIGHT TO THE SUMMIT

A team of young entrepreneurs in the United States has come up with the perfect scheme to buy and build their own patch of Eden.

They first persuaded about 50 well-heeled investors to help them raise the reported $40 million needed to purchase Utah’s largely untouched Powder Mountain as a place to build a ‘community for entrepreneurs and thought leaders’.

Development is now underway to build 500 single-family sustainable homes, a central village, boutique lodging and amenities on the 7,000 acres of natural wilderness and untamed ski slopes.

“Our goal is to create a place that has a positive impact not just on the residents of Summit Eden and the Ogden Valley, but the state of Utah, and the world”, Elliott Bisnow, the 27-year old founder and CEO of Summit, the group that led the purchase said in a news post on their website.
