Women were considered as chattel by men. They bore children and

looked after the house. They had no rights and could be bought and sold.

One woman in ancient Egypt was worth 3 bars of copper, or two oxen.

"Blessed are you, Hashem (The Name), King of the Universe, for not having made me a Gentile. Blessed are you, Hashem, King of the Universe, for not having made me a slave. Blessed are you, Hashem, King of the Universe, for not having made me a woman."

Jesus’ Response“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35

Paul’s ResponseHusbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her Ephesians 5:25

Peter’s ResponseHusbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers. 1 Peter 3:7
