Director’s Note First, thank you for attending our opening production of the 2018-2019 Season. I encourage you to join us for the rest of our season which includes A Few Good Men, The Children’s Hour, and Hello Dolly! As well as our special collaboration with the other Fine Arts Departments, Journey to Terezin and our 1st Annual New Works Festival. We have an exciting year in store and one in which we are re-branding. You may have noticed a new logo on the front of your Showbill with the moniker “Reagan Stage”. We will be using this logo and name from here on out to match our social media and website. Undoubtedly, the thing I love the most about Peter and the Starcatcher is its inherent theatricality. All 45 of our actors barely leave the stage and play characters ranging from a crocodile to a bird to an orphan—sometimes all on the same page. Traditionally this play is cast with all men and only one woman—we made the very purposeful decision that gender would not be the qualifying factor to be considered for a par-ticular role. You will see women playing men and men play-ing woman with very little effort to make them convincingly the opposite gender. Instead, they embody the spirit of that character and bring them to life—often to comic effect (wait until you see the mermaids). I hope you and your family enjoy the journey of an orphan boy who finds his family on his way to becoming Peter Pan. It is a story that transcends age and is as magical to those re-membering their childhood, as it is to those experiencing it. This one is for my children Q and Lyric, who took their own incredible journey to complete our family. Love you!

Enjoy the show!

Paul Fillingim, Director

“If I could give you just two things,One would be Roots, the other, Wings.”Roots, not to tie you to the ground,But to guide you to where your fulfillment is foundThe nourishing start, the firm foundation,The source of your inner determination.Wings to soar over obstacles, wings to fly free,Wings to glide to the heights of the best you can be.

And when obstacles loom, from your Roots grows a handProviding a strong, sturdy, safe place to land.I’d choose these two things for the gifts that are best,For with Roots and with Wings, you’ll find all the rest!
