2. To provide those services required by the residents (ratepayers) who pay for its existence.

2. Ensure that all members are aware of the planned orientation

3. Try to get buy-in from participants beforehand

• To provide services, facilities or other things that, in the opinion of the council, are necessary or desirable for all or part of mun.

• To consider the well-being and interests of the municipality as a whole and to bring to the council’s attention anything that would promote the well-being or interests of the municipality

• To participate generally in developing and evaluating the policies and programs of the municipality

• To participate in meetings of the council and of council committees to which the member is appointed by the council

• To keep in confidence a matter that is discussed at a meeting closed to the public under ss 152(3) and that the committee decides to keep confidential until the matter is discussed at a meeting of the council or of a committee conducted in public.

DUTIES OF THE HEAD OF COUNCIL In addition to performing the duties of a member of council, the head of council has a duty:

• To preside when in attendance at a council meeting, except where the procedures by-law otherwise provides

• To provide leadership and direction • To perform duties assigned by council

CAO RESPONSIBILITIES • Administrative head of municipality • Responsible for ensuring that the policies

and programs are implemented • Responsible for advising and informing

council on the operation of municipality • Except as council determines others,

responsible for management of employees

• Carry out the powers, duties and functions assigned to CAO by council

• Notify council if money of the municipality is spent or invested contrary to by-law/leg.

CAO ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES The CAO must ensure that

• The minutes are made without notes/comments • The by-laws and minutes of council meetings

and all other records and books of accounts of the municipality are kept safe

• The revenues of the municipality are collected• Money belonging to/held by the municipality

is deposited

• The accounts for authorized expenditures of the municipality are paid

• Accurate records and books of account are kept of the financial affairs of municipality

• Any information requested of the municipality by the minister is provided within a reasonable time.
