• The Group has been going for just over 6 years. Its been a real
journey

• Diverse mix of people from shift workers, students, parents, retirees
• Averaging 15 people per meeting which is just manageable. The most
we have attend is 21. Anymore requires good crowd control skills
• They prefer to have library involvement and management rather than
self run
• Most are fantasy readers with a real love of DRAGONS!
• A few “geeks” and engineers who love the science fiction aspects
Fantasy and Science Fiction Discussion Group
• Galaxy Bookshop, Kinokuniya, and Kings Comics: They have
showcased themselves here before at these seminars and they all maintain
good online presence
• Baen.com: Online SF books, short stories, non fiction, free download of
ebooks especially 1st title of a series.
Online Resources
• Refer to “Who else writes like” on the back for suggested authors
• Newly published material and just arrived in the library
• Use an eye catching picture and produce quarterly material to save time
• This is used as a flyer and poster to maintain consistency.
• Skyping with Brent Weeks
Value of RA Seminar
• Entranced and fooled by the great storyteller Garth Nix. How many people were fooled into putting their hands up for the gold coin
• Favourite reads came from a recommendation @ RA “Night Circus” by Erin Morgenstern
• Committee members past & present – Vas, Ellen, Melanie, Jenn
• Getting to know the liaison person from Kings Comics @ RA
Penrith. It spawned a great relationship which launched trivia nights, book buying days, and comic days
Trivia nights tie in with the
Graphic Novel collections,
