SalmonWe primarily target King Salmon (Chinook) and Silver Salmon (Coho). We start the season in early May with the Mighty King Salmon. It’s the largest of the five species of Salmon with an average weight of 25-30 lbs. (40-70 lbs. is not uncommon). From August through September, huge schools of acro-batic silver salmon move into Sitka waters. These fish average 10-12 lbs. and provide fast-and-furious action.

HalibutThe halibut fishing in Sitka can only be described as consistently outstanding Halibut ranging from 25-300 lbs. are abundant all season. Sitka doesn’t have to contend with strong tidal currents meaning you can fish halibut anytime of the day. This allows us to fish for multiple species each day out on the water. It’s quite common to catch halibut, salmon and other bottom fish all in the same day. And it’s our goal to help you do just that. The bottom fishing is spectacular as well, including species such as lingcod, yellow eye, and sea bass.

BoatsAt Kain’s Fishing Adventures we employ four 30-32 foot cus-tom Almar fishing boats. Each boat provides a warm and dry cabin with seating for six riding to and from the fishing grounds. Electronics include GPS, Plotter, Fish Finder and Marine Radios. Enclosed head (toilet), with smoke free four stroke motors. Also, they are all 360 degree walk-around, allowing each fisherman plenty of room to fish forward, side and aft.

Equipment and GearTechniqueWe employ a hands on approach. We MOOCH for salmon using only lightweight tackle. This fun and exciting hands-on technique puts the rod and reel in your hands. You work your bait, you feel the bite and you set the hook yourself into a line screaming ocean-bright, hard-fighting fish of a lifetime. You’ll find ocean-caught Salmon are aggressive feeders, fight hard and make for the highest quality table fare.
