Enhanced Safety for Cyclists

• Provide suitable bicycle lanes, in particular grade-

separated bicycle paths

• Offer bicycle lanes separated from the road by

a fence

• Demarcate bicycle paths by a painted marking

Soi Nana Tai.

strengthen road safety legislation include China, India,

Philippines, Thailand and Tanzania

• 10 cities are Accra (Ghana), Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Bandung

(Indonesia), Bangkok (Thailand), Bogota (Colombia), Fortaleza

(Brazil), Ho Chi Minh (Vietnam), Mumbai (India), São Paulo

(Brazil), and Shanghai (China)

Bangkok Action Plan

• The 1st year (2015):

– Improved pedestrians

– Initiated city speed limit under 25 mph

– Stopped drunk drivers

• The 2nd – 4th year (2016-2018):

– Improve road conditions and traffic lights

• The 5th year (2019):

– Connect building and mass transit system via sky walk

Sathorn Model

• A pilot study project with government, private sectors, academic

institutions and citizen

• To sustainability contribute to mitigate traffic congestion

• Initiated by World Business Council for Sustainable Development

(WBCSD), the BMA, the Ministry of Transport (MOT), and Metropolitan

Police Bureau.
