Bonny Eagle Football OrganizationBonny Eagle Football Boosters: • Oversees football from 1st grade to 12th grade

• Board of Directors: • President • VP-Operations • VP-Registration • Treasurer • Secretary • Director of Football

• Meetings 1x/month in the offseason, 2x/month during season

• Financially responsible for almost all football related expenses • All Expenses from 1st-8th grade • All Expense for HS except: 12 Footballs, team travel, game management • We must fund raise!! • Car Show, Golf Outing, Gold Card Sales, Concessions, Pay to play, (Fishing Derby) • Coaches must be responsible for fund raising

Bonny Eagle Youth Program - Flag1st/2nd grade: • 4 teams of 10-12 players

• 1 skills based practice/week • Drills done in a circuit type format • Emphasis on basic skills:

- How to carry the football - Catching the ball - Movement

• “Game” on the weekend • Each player team gets a couple of offensive chances • Hopefully each player gets the chance to carry the ball

Bonny Eagle Youth Program-Little Scots3rd/4th grade - Little Scots (tackle) • 3 teams

• 2 practices/week by team: • “Pride” night at end of 2nd practice

• All teams work together in a skills circuit format

• Game on the weekend vs other Little Scots teams • Each team plays a 30 minute running half against both teams

• Each team works from a common playbook • Coaches get the ability to freelance for a play or 2

• Each team plays a standard defense • The center is NOT covered - No LB blitzing is allowed

5th/6th grade - Youth (tackle) • 3 teams • 3 practices/week by team • “Pride” night at end of 2nd practice • Game on the weekend vs other BE Youth teams

Bonny Eagle Middle School Program7th/8th grade - Middle School - SMYFL • 2 teams - (we will always have another team if #’s dictate)

• 4 practices/week by team

• Game on the weekend vs other SMYFL

• MS works from a playbook that is a version of our HS playbook

Cardinal sins of football practice:• No Lines, Laps, or Lectures • No 10x of “Run it Again” • Not having a practice plan - Don’t wing it • Not having a whistle

Running a great practice:• Have a written practice plan - The kids deserve it • Full engagement of all players - Gets kids reps • Don’t waste time on conditioning - take advantage of every moment to teach football • Know exactly how you want to run every drill and each play

Bonny Eagle Youth Program Philosophy

• Players must compliment and thank each other for great play • Coach celebrating as a team

Coaching Emphasis:Coach effort first• Find examples of great effort/hard work and point them out • Praise-Praise-Praise

Coach listening• Speak quickly and know your coaching points • Demand that all eyes are on you when you coach

2. Stations (5-10 min each) a. Tackling Station (Form Fit) b. Agility Station (4 cone, 3 cone, running ladder, bags) c. Blocking Station (Base, Reach, Stalk) – stance, steps d. WR Routes (Hitch, Slant, Seam, Bubble) – stance, hand placement e. RB Station (64/65 Ride Mesh) – stance, four points of pressure f. Special Teams Station (punt/PR, kickoff/KOR)

All possible lineman w/anyone that can might take a snap Line across field - Get others away to ensure quality work Centers MUST step (and vary steps each reps) QBs can work warm up throws while working exchange

3) QB Warm-UpsQBs throw to QBs Get QBs on their feet Start by working takeaway - wrist cocked, front hand push, extend back Zero position to pull down Work core activation - reverse foot throws Drop progression:

1 step, punch 1, 3 step, punch 3, 5 step

4) WR Clock CatchesWR technique catches - Triangle - Long eyes on ball/catch to tuck Partner throws to clock numbers - WRs have to catch away from and around body

5) WR Cone DrillsCones can be set up in a 5 yd box or zig-zag or any pattern that works WRs work at 1/2 to 3/4 speed going through cones Emphasis is on change of direction skills - Low hips, fast feet, fast arms

6) QB/WR line throwsAll QBs throw to WRs 1 at a time Use different types of catches - crossing, curl/hitch, over shoulder, 1 hand WRs catch and go to to other side and reform line - same throw back

8) OL/TE Reach vs ReachMatch players of equal ability on opposite sides of LOS On snap count each player tries to reach block each other down LOS If players are equally matched - drill should stay on LOS and go down line Emphasis:

Hand placement and strike Footwork and leg drive Block to the whistle

**NOTE: All players practice blocking at the same time in practice!!

On ball movement - Fire out on the rise w/short, quick steps & a hand shoot

DL takes their stance across from CoachCoach must use a ballCoach gives cadence and tries to draw DL offside

10) DB Pass breakup-High Five DrillWR runs vertical - start at 1/2 speed build to full DB starts facing WR or facing coach - if facing coach work both zone/man turns DB concentrates on eyes and hands of WR When eyes get big/hands go up - Use inside hand to high five back hand of WR

11) LB Zone Drop DrillWork LBs on a zone drop 3 LBs in drill - 2 curl players and 1 hook player On ball snap - LBs buzz their feet - On pass key they drop Curl players work to intersect the seam route Ball can be utilized by coach - don’t let seam throws be completed

12) Tackle Circuit10 minute period - 4 Stations - Daily during pre-season - 1/wk during season Teach chest tackle and shoulder tackle - Work many different attack angles Constant instruction to keep head out of contact **Check out “The Dartmouth Way” on youtube
