Bonny Eagle Youth Program-Youth and Little ScotsCoaching Points: Coaches Conduct:• Dealing w/officials - BE respectful • Dealing w/kids - BE positive • Dealing w/parents - Treat them like the customer - give them their money’s worth • Dealing w/other coaches - BE a team - Do NOT confront other coaches on the field
Cardinal sins of football practice:• No Lines, Laps, or Lectures • No 10x of “Run it Again” • Not having a practice plan - Don’t wing it • Not having a whistle
Running a great practice:• Have a written practice plan - The kids deserve it • Full engagement of all players - Gets kids reps • Don’t waste time on conditioning - take advantage of every moment to teach football • Know exactly how you want to run every drill and each play
Have fun:
Bonny Eagle Youth Program Philosophy
• Players must compliment and thank each other for great play • Coach celebrating as a team
Coaching Emphasis:Coach effort first• Find examples of great effort/hard work and point them out • Praise-Praise-Praise
Coach listening• Speak quickly and know your coaching points • Demand that all eyes are on you when you coach
Coach teamwork
