Gate charges Adults $4 each, children $2 each, family concession $10. Member’s tickets are for two persons only.

Rules and conditions1 No entries will be acknowledged unless accompanied by fees.

2 Run under the Bylaws and Regulations of the RAS and/or Local Conditions as designated.

Rule Book available at Secretary’s Office on the day.

3 Each exhibitor must supervise and control their animals at all times and shall be liable for any hazard created, or accident, illness or damage caused by the action of themselves or their animals at the showgrounds. Exhibitors must comply with the appropriate animal legislation and the HEALTH AND SAFETY EMPLOYMENT ACT 1993.

4 The Matamata A & P Association has arranged a Public Liability Insurance Policy in the Horse and Cattle Sections of the Show. This policy covers each exhibitor and competitor for any property damage claims that may result from their negligence while on the showgrounds.

5 The Matamata A & P Association is an affiliated A & P Show to the Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand Inc. and as such, the use of tranquilisers, stimulants, or any drugs capable of affecting the performance of horses and ponies is forbidden.

6 Competitors are advised that tests for forbidden substances may be carried out during the Show and that testing of all animals is at the owner’s risk. Testing for forbidden substances will be carried out under the Royal Agricultural Society Forbidden Substance Judicial Committee (FSJC) procedures and rules (refer Rule 97 RAS Equestrian Judges and Competitors Rule Book and rule 55a of the RAS General Rules and Regulations).

7 No person who is in arrears with regard to entry fees, subscriptions or any other Show charge is eligible to compete at any A & P Show. Proof of payment will be required before any restriction will be lifted.

8 The Matamata A & P Association Show Committee reserves the right to refuse or cancel any entry without adducing any reason for doing so.

9 Except in rider classes, every animal must be named.

10 A novice pony or rider is one that has yet to win six classes in any division within the competitions provided at any A & P Show. Novice animals are eligible for open classes.

11 Novice ponies and horses may be ridden by riders of any age.

12 In all jumping events a skullcap must be worn. Note: all riders 16 years and under must wear headgear which includes a retaining harness secured to the shell at more than two points. Such headgear must be worn with the chinstrap properly adjusted and fastened when in the arena or ring, the practice area, collecting rings or anywhere else with the showgrounds.

13 No dressage type whips are allowed in ridden classes. Refer RAS rules.

14 The measuring rules of the RAS of NZ will apply at this show. All horses and ponies must have a current height certificate which shall be presented on request. Prize money may be withheld if such certificate is not available.

15 Starting times are approximate only, but will be adhered to as closely as possible. Although it is provided that horses may compete in more than one class, or any or all such classes may be judged simultaneously at the convenience of the judges or stewards, in all such cases exhibitors having an exhibit in more than one class must elect in which class they compete. The steward will call their name twice only. Entry fees will not be refunded if an event is missed through not hearing the call.

16 Scratchings: refund of entry fees will be considered if scratchings are made in writing officially to the Secretary by Tuesday prior to the Show. Refunds will be less 50% of the original entry fee. Veterinarian/Doctors certificate is required for scratchings during the Show. Refunds are at the discretion of the Show Committee.

17 All competitors must park their floats and trucks in the area designated for this purpose. NO EXCEPTIONS.

18 No dogs allowed on grounds unless competing in Sheepdog Trial Section.

19 Novice Performance Cards: It is the responsibility of the owner/rider to present these to the Horse/Pony Ring office for updating. No card – no prize money.

20 First Ridden Classes – a rider is only able to compete in this section for a maximum of two show seasons (refer to RAS Rules).

21 The committee has the right to substitute prize money for vouchers in some classes.

Juvenile and Pony Sections

Riders: all riders in this section must be under 17 years of age

1 The use of tranquiliser stimulant or any other drug that affects the performance of a horse or pony is forbidden.

Competitors are advised that tests for forbidden substances may be carried out during the show and that testing of all animals is at the owner’s risk.

2 All riders must wear protective headgear, which includes a retaining harness secured to the shell at more than two points. Such headgear must be worn with the chinstrap properly adjusted and fastened when in the arena or ring, the practice area, collecting rings or anywhere else within the Matamata Showgrounds.

Ponies All ponies must have approved Height Certificates / Performance Cards before entering the ring and certificates must be produced if requested by a steward.

Late entries For a competitor to make any late entries into this section, a penalty of $15 per pony will apply.

Lunch hour Judging may continue during the lunch hour. Riders must accept the awards as presented by the judge at the time.

Any horse or rider competing in a pony ring may not compete in the hack ring or vice versa.

Cattle Section

1 TB Herd Status Declaration Cards

All cattle entered for showing which are one month of age or over must be ACCOMPANIED IN TRANSIT by a signed and dated Tb Herd Status Declaration Card showing either a Tb Free or an Accredited Tb Free status.

2 TB Test Certificate

a Declared TB Movement Controlled Areas: Cattle 1 month of age and over which are farmed or grazed within a Declared TB Movement Controlled Area, must be negative to a TB test within 60 days prior to the start date of the Show.

b All Other Areas: Cattle 12 months of age and over must be negative to a TB test within 12 months prior to the start date of the Show.

This certificate, showing individual animal’s identification numbers MUST ACCOMPANY COMPLETED ENTRY FORMS when returned to Show Secretary. Any queries contact the steward of the section concerned.

Age of all cattle shall be computed as at 1 June except the age of Junior Yearlings shall be computed on or after 1 September.

All stock to be yarded by 8:30am. All females in milk to be judged before males.

All dairy bulls 12 months and over must be rung and under adequate supervision. Bulls will not be allowed in the ring unless these conditions are adhered to.

Pedigree cattle over 12 months must be registered.

No cattle to leave Showgrounds before 1:30pm.

The following practices are banned from the Dairy Cattle sections of the Matamata A&P Show:

1 The administration of any drug to enhance the appearance of the animal.

2 The infusion of any substance to the mammary system to alter the outward appearance of the udder or milk veins.

3 The gluing, sealing or taping of teats or use of artificial practices to affect the teat angle or teat placement.

4 All entries must be accompanied by a signed declaration by the exhibitor agreeing that their stock be available for testing or scrutiny by a suitably qualified person appointed by the Matamata Agricultural and Pastoral Show to detect any malpractice.

Matamata A&P Association have awarded a trophy for annual competition, called the “WC Silveira Memorial Trophy” for open competitor with the highest pointed run.

Time allowed 10 minutes – Drive and negotiate obstacles and yard

Class 595 Open. first: $80.00 plus product, second: $60.00 plus product, third: $40.00 plus product, fourth: $20.00 plus product. All Eukanuba supplied by Masterpet through Matamata Veterinary Services Ltd.
