Enrollments Full-time Equivalent (FTE) Enrollments: ACADEMIC YEAR 2011 - 2012 2015-2016 FTE means two things in higher education: When talking about employees, FTE means “full-time equivalency” for the purposes of a work year. FTE is primarily used when talking about staffing and hiring. For example, if you need 1 FTE that means you need the equivalent of one full-time position. Calculation of FTE students (using fall student headcounts) The number of FTE students is calculated based on fall student headcounts as reported by the institution on the IPEDS Enrollment (EF) component (Part A). ... This formula is used to produce an FTE that is used annually in the Digest of Education Statistics.
*FTE (12 credit hours) is based on the Department of Education's standard model; FTE (15 credit hours) is based on a historical model.

Enrollments MVC Texas Success Initiative (TSI): Fall 2015 & Spring 2016 The Texas Success Initiative (TSI) program is required by state law to ensure students enrolled in Texas public colleges possess the academic skills needed to perform effectively in college-level coursework. TSI includes a testing component designed to identify and provide information about students’ reading, writing, and math skills.
Some students are exempt or waived from TSI requirements, therefore they are not included in the statistics below. The following data show only the students who are not TSI met in one or more courses.
Analysis: In the Fall of 2015 about 29 % did not meet math requirements. Five percent have not met in two out of three areas. Five percent of them have not met all three areas of reading, writing and math.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) What is the difference between Full-time and Part-time Student? Part-time student: A student enrolled for either less than 12 semester or quarter credits, or less than 24 contact hours a week each term. Full-time student: A student enrolled for 12 or more semester credits, or 12 or more quarter credits, or 24 or more contact hours a week each term. What is Full-time Equivalent (FTE)? The full-time equivalent (FTE): is a single value providing a meaningful combination of full-time and part-time students. Calculation of FTE students FTE (12 credit hour base): The total Semester Credit Hours (SCH) of the institution taken by credit students divided by 12. FTE (15 credit hour base): The total Semester Credit Hours (SCH) of the institution taken by credit students divided by 15. FTE (12 credit hours) is based on the Department of Education's standard model; FTE (15 credit hours) is based on a historical model. What is the difference between Credit and Non Credit Course? Credit (CR) course: A course that, if successfully completed, can be applied toward the number of courses required for achieving a postsecondary degree, diploma, certificate, or other formal award, irrespective of the activity's unit of measurement. Noncredit (Continuing Education-CE) Course: A course or activity having no credit applicable toward a degree, diploma, certificate, or other formal award. How do you define Success and Retention at MVC? Success is defined as completion of the course with a grade of ‘A’, ‘B’, or ‘C’. Retention is defined as students who do not receive a grade of ‘W’ and are still enrolled in the course at the end of the semester. Students who withdraw prior to certification are not included in the enrollments numbers.

What is the difference between Duplicated and Unduplicated headcount? Unduplicated headcount is the actual number of individual students enrolled. Students may be enrolled in one or more classes, but they are counted only once. Duplicated headcount is the total class count. Students may be enrolled in more than one class and would therefore be counted in each class. Who are First-time-in-College (FTiC) Students as defined by MVC? First-Time-in-College (FTiC) students are first-time credential-seeking students. Credential-seeking students are those with a code of 1= earn an associate's degree; 2=earn a certificate; 3= earn credits for transfer. Job skills or personal enrichment are not included. Dual Credit enrollments is not included because it is not considered First-Time-in-College students.
