Read and Reveal To set up: Print the cards on cardstock and laminate for durability. Cut the cards apart on the solid lines and fold on the dashed lines to hide the image. You can use a clothespin, paperclip or even a piece of Velcro to secure the flap. I placed all the cards in a basket and had my students choose a card one-by-one during guided reading groups.

To use: After choosing a card, have your students touch the dot under each letter and say its sound. Then have them slide their finger along the arrow to blend the sounds together. Once they feel confident with the word, have them remove the clip and reveal the picture. If they read the word correctly, they keep the card in front of them. If they had trouble reading the word, they put it back in the basket and try again.
