Divisional Council Meeting (DCM) & Officer Training Conference (OTC) What are DCMs and OTCs?

DCMs - These are monthly meeting among the members of our division, in which we discuss past events and progress/changes made so far, as well as upcoming events and ideas for new projects/events/fundraising programs. This is an essential way for all of us to get to know one another and actually have a chance to physically talk about issues we may face, how Key Club is running at our own individual schools, what the NJ District is working on at the moment/what they have planned for the future, and for us to begin working on a new project, divisional event, or the district project (NJ Federation of Food Banks). PLUS they are usually held at nice places like Panera Bread or Smash Burger, or occasionally I will bring food for you all! They only last like a hour to a hour & a half.

OTCs - (IMPORTANT FOR NEW OFFICERS) These meetings can and will most probably just happen right after or during a DCM. Basically, I just have to talk to you about what your duties and responsibilities are as the position you hold on board. And once I’ve trained you (or talked to you about your job), you don’t have to ever get it done again until the next service year! So I suggest to come the first one so you don’t have to worry about it later.

I know we weren’t able to hold our 1st DCM/OTC on May 21st, so I am officially deciding to hold it Saturday, June 18th at Panera Bread (Hamilton Marketplace, 375 Marketplace Blvd, Hamilton Township, NJ 08691), starting around 11 a.m. You need at least 2 members from your club to represent your school and be counted as present in attendance. 1

Regional Training Conferences (RTCs)

What are RTCs exactly?

RTCs are events in which new officers are trained on a district level, separate from OTCs (which are also really important), and an officer has to have at least attended one to receive the distinguished officer award at the end of the year. They are really helpful in not only learning about what your individual position in Key Club is responsible for, but also because you learn new ideas for projects/fundraisers to hold and how to better communicate with your entire Key Club family. PLUS, you get to meet everyone on the new District Board, as well as people from other divisions!

This year’s Spring RTCs went amazing!! I understand that some people were not able to make it to the two in May, but I highly encourage all of you to come to the RTCs the district will be holding in the upcoming Fall! I will of course inform you all when and where they will be held ahead of time. Board members and general members are all welcomed to come.

P.S. We had some retired board members come and surprise us with a visit!!

Bordentown Key Club New Board Members’

Installation Two weeks ago, I had the privilege to go to Bordentown High School and induct the new board members in by handing down the official Key Club pins to them. I was very happy to see the amazing work their club has already accomplished, and see how excited they were for being a part of Key Club and for the upcoming service year. And it was like a mini-DCM with them, because I was able to recap in person to them everything that the District Board is working on currently - like the District Project, RTCs, and Fall Rally. If your club hasn’t elected new board members yet, is having their final Key Club meeting, or has any special events coming up for them, PLEASE INFORM me about them so that I can come and visit!

Fall Rally!Once Upon A Time in Key Club…

Once upon a time . . .

All the lost boys left Neverland, Sleeping Beauty woke up and called a carriage, Little Red Riding Hood packed a second basket of treats, and Jack came down from the Beanstalk. But where were they all heading? Why, the NJ District of KCI’s Fall Rally, of course - the one event that can make even Grumpy smile!

Fall Rally, or what you may know as the Key Club event held in Six Flags Great Adventure, is our biggest event of the year! Come and celebrate the start of the new school year of service with over 3,000 dedicated Key Clubbers across the state, while joining in on a pep rally including information regarding all of Key Club’s recent activities. It is such an inspiring event - one that’s just right. From learning about service opportunities to riding roller coasters taller than Rapunzel’s tower, Fall Rally is such a magical time!

Fall Rally is October 9th and is only $38.00 for early registration non-season pass attendees, $43.00 for regular registration non-season pass attendees, and $7 for all season-pass attendees. You can hear about the available service opportunities in your district, learn more about our District Project, meet your 2016-2017 NJ District Board, and ride roller coasters with your friends in the afternoon! Early Registration is due postmarked by Friday, September 23, 2016. Make sure you register early, especially if your club is taking a bus, as a bus pass is included in early registration. Late registration is due the day of Fall Rally at the park!
