That’s why Read Aloud works to educate and inspire families—to equip them with the knowledge that there is a simple and low-cost way to offer their children a beer future. Because book ownership also plays a crical role in creang readers, last year we gave over 4,000 books to children, schools and prisons in West Virginia. Childhood Favorites

Think for a moment about your favorite books from

childhood. What memories accompany them? What

people and places? What feelings and emotions?

At Read Aloud West Virginia, we like to ask these

questions, then stand back and watch the light come on in

a person’s eyes. This affection for our childhood favorites

is something all book lovers share.

It’s also part of what Read Aloud West Virginia is trying to

give the children of our state. Our dedicated volunteers in

25 counties work to help children connect reading with

pleasure—to turn on that light in their eyes.

Our readers regularly visit the 1,828 classrooms enrolled in

our program this school year. With each visit, those

children are laughing and learning and bonding over

books.

The typical child, however, spends 900 hours each year in

school and 7,800 hours at home. That’s why Read Aloud

works to educate and inspire families—to equip them with

the knowledge that there is a simple and low-cost way to

offer their children a better future.

Because book ownership also plays a critical role in

creating readers, last year we gave over 4,000 books to

children, schools and prisons in West Virginia.

Each week, Read Aloud volunteers provide a live

commercial for reading.

Each workshop we offer could inspire a parent to

snuggle and read with their child.

Each book we distribute could become a childhood

favorite.

Thank you for helping us keep

books in the hands and on the

minds of West Virginia’s children.
