The following correction has been noticed in the above paper after its publication:

Page 238. 2nd paragraph, 9th line. The sentence ‘‘For super Poisson statistics. . ...’’should be replaced by:For super Poisson statistics of the proton bunch, the Feynman Y function is larger,

while it is smaller if the bunch is sub Poisson. Its variation with accelerator power isdecided by variation of v=m of the proton bunch with the average number of protonsin a bunch (which is proportional to the power, for a fixed RF frequency).

Additionally, the following typographical corrections, though obvious from thecontext, may please be noted.

Page. 230. The first line of Eq. (14) should have > at the end.Page. 234. The first equation on the page should be numbered (29). g01 is a function

of two arguments; the first of these has been set equal to 1. In Eq. (31) the + signafter 22Y1 should not be there.Page. 236. First line of Eq. (41), the last term is a product of I and N.Page 237. There should be no + sign after @F x;z;tð Þ

@x .Page 241. G to be replaced by G0 in Eq. (51) and G to be replaced by G00 in Eq.

(52), wherever they occur.Page 242. 0 to be replaced by in Eq. (53), wherever it occurs.
