Policies & Procedures

Attendance Policy: Registration in RORI implies attending from 3:00pm on Sunday July 13th through 5:30pm on Friday July 18th. Any exceptions must be preapproved by the RORI administrator, Mary Osep, prior to registering.

Preference is given to registrations in the order they are received. Registrations must be turned in by

February 28, 2014. A maximum of eight participants per parish will be

accepted before February 28. After that date, the cap will be lifted and more registrations will be accepted as space allows.

Attendance is expected at an Orientation meeting on Tuesday, April 29, 7:00pm, at St. Monica Parish in Whitefish Bay.

Cost The total cost for RORI is $235. A non-

refundable deposit of $100 is required when registering to hold your space. The balance of $135 is due by April 29, 2014. Refunds will be given only if written notice of cancellation is received by July 1, 2014.

What is Reach Out Reach In?

Reach Out Reach In is an opportunity for high school youth to serve in the Milwaukee area - where they can return and serve throughout the year - and to learn about the many community organizations that

work to meet the needs of the poor and vulnerable in the city. Youth will also discover some of the root causes of injustice that need our voices to advocate for change. We call this the two feet of social justice.

Reach Out Reach In invites… Teens ages 15-18, who have completed ninth grade.

Teens who are interested in spending the week in service with children in shelters or summer programs, special needs children and adults, a family and organic farm, painting or landscaping for community organizations and so much more.

Teens who want to experience living in community. We live together at St. Monica Parish in Whitefish Bay. It is a great way to make wonderful NEW FRIENDS who share a passion for making a difference in our world, often one relationship at a time!

Teens who want to simplify life for just a week! This important aspect of the week brings us into solidarity with those we serve. We eat amazing meals together, limit our shower use to one a day, and abstain from television, cell phones, and other media. You can do it!

Each day begins and ends with prayer. Sometimes it is woven into the day, as we have experiences that we turn over to our loving God. Reconciliation is available during the week, and we invite families to join us on Friday for a closing Liturgy and celebration of the week.

Each evening we share stories and reflect on the service of the day in light of Catholic Social Teaching and Justice education.

Those who have attended RORI in the past are invited to return and look at ways we can advocate for change at our worksites. Don’t miss this opportunity to grow in grace at the wonder of our Catholic Faith.
